I bought the farm at 28 to keep it in the family and worked three jobs just to hold onto it. ⠀⠀⠀ When I came back to farm full-time, I had no customers and no guaranteed income. ⠀⠀⠀ 🔥 Just a belief it could work, and an obsession to make it happen. ⠀⠀⠀ But what farming really teaches you isn’t obvious at the start. ⠀⠀⠀ Here’s what no one tells you: ⠀⠀⠀ ➞ You think you’re learning how to grow food But you’re really learning patience, persistence and discipline because things rarely go to plan, and you still have to show up and do it anyway. ⠀⠀⠀ ➞ Resilience isn’t optional It will test you, humble you, and keep asking more of you long after you think you’ve reached your limit. ⠀⠀⠀ ➞ Something breaks every day Irrigation lines, pumps, tractors, fittings and there’s no one else to carry it or fix it for you, so you become resourceful because if you don’t, everything slows down and that costs you quickly. ⠀⠀⠀ ➞ Every decision carries financial weight What you plant, when you plant, how much you plant, and very quickly you realise growing food and managing risk are the same job. ⠀⠀⠀ ➞ The system doesn’t reward how you farm It rewards scale, speed, and leverage not careful stewardship or direct relationships, so building a farm this way means backing your values, even when it would be easier not to. ⠀⠀⠀ At the end of the day, a farm like ours survives because people choose to believe in it. ⠀⠀⠀ I haven’t just built an organic farm. ⠀⠀⠀ I’ve built a community that I’ll always show up for. ⠀⠀⠀ It’s never easy and it changes you in every way, but it matters. ⠀⠀⠀ #organicfarmer #farming #knowyourfarmer

Selling 500+ plants weekly gave us early-season revenue before field crops matured. 🍅 Heirloom Tomatoes – Incredible flavor and strong pricing. Customers remembered ours and returned just for them. 🫛 Snap Peas – A seasonal hit. Crisp, snackable, and easy to sell by the pint. About $6,000 in spring + $6,000 in fall. 🥦 Broccolini – Quick, productive, and great as a supplemental crop. It added dependable weekly sales. ❤️ Baby Red Potatoes – Tender, high demand, and easy to wash and pack. Always a reliable seller. We built a six-figure market farm by focusing on simple systems and high-value crops — not endless variety.
