Flat Felled Seam Tutorial 👖 no special machine needed! 1. Sew right sides together. You can also do wrong sides together if you want the folded edge on the outside. My seam allowance is 1.5cm or 5/8” 2. Press open 3. Trim seam allowance in half. Don’t trim too much or you’ll struggle to catch all the layers of fabric. 4. Fold & press up to the stitchline. 5. Pin down 6. Sew 1-2mm from the seam 7. Sew 4-5mm from the first topstitch line And you’re done! Super easy once you have it down, and one of the sturdiest ways to finish a seam. Use it for a clean & less bulky finish on heavy fabrics like denim. Disclaimer: there are many ways to do this - but this is the most intuitive for me! A true felled seam has at least 2 lines of stitching that go through ALL the layers of fabric. Commercial garments use a lap seam machine with a double needle. It folds the fabric for you & gives you perfectly spaced topstitching, but this is a great way for those who only have a home sewing machine. #flatfelledseams #sewingtutorial #jeans #denim
