HOW I CUT a long, straight t-shirt to fit my today-body. **I highly recommend using fabric scissors. I’ve used janky kid’s scissors before, and it leaves a pretty ragged edge.** 1. I like to start with the neck. I line up the left/right shoulder seams FROM THE MIDDLE. In other words, instead of laying the shirt flat, and then folding it in half to line up the shoulders (makes for too much fabric to cut through), grab the front + back middle, pull, and line up the shoulders that way. Cut along the seams. Try it on. Pull the neck to get the roll going. And see if it’s where you want it. If you want to go a little more flashdance, cut a little bit more, a little bit more, a little bit more, until it’s right where you want it. 2. Next, I shorten the sleeves. THIS IS KEY. Tight sleeves will loosen up beautifully once you cut the bottom hem off. I lay the shirt flat, and cut right above the hem. That’s usually enough for me, but feel free to cut, try it on, cut try it on, cut, try it on, until you land exactly where you want them. 3. Then, I cut the bottom off. I have no idea why some t-shirts are so dang looooooooong. Depending on the shirt, I’ll cut off anywhere from an inch, to 8 inches. I start by laying the t-shirt flat, then folding it in half so there are less cuts to make. This particular shirt didn’t need much cutting, but that one inch (plus the roll) was PERFECT. IN CASE YOU’RE WONDERING... knit t-shirts like this do not fray or unravel. Not in my experience anyway, and I’ve cut dozens of t-shirts, and worn them for years. (I’ve also cut dozens of sweatshirts.) Sometimes, the seams will loosen a little bit, so you *could* tack them if you wanted, but I’ve never bothered with that. There are of course OTHER ways to cut a t-shirt so it fits your today-body. This just happens to be MY way. If you’re looking for alternative ideas, check YouTube! TPO is a single ply membrane, perfect for flat roofs as we need waterproof roofing on pitches shallower than about 3/12 (3” of rise for 12” of run). It’s rolled out in wide strips and heat welded at the seams. Composition shingles require a steeper pitch to perform optimally because of the tendency of water to wick under shingles on a shallower slope (but that doesn’t stop it from being installed with insufficient slope! Particularly on old tar and gravel roofs). Anyway yes I will walk the roof in sandals haha
