This new halal Uyghur restaurant is brought to you by no stranger in the Uyghur restaurant scene in Queens. Waris is the owner of both Tarim Uyghur restaurants in Flushing, Queens and has just opened on Woodhaven Blvd. He is set to open 10 more Uyghur restaurants (all halal of course) this year. The same space used to have other halal restaurants here, so not sure what’s going on, but we hope Uyghur Laghman House is here to STAY! Waris has expressed to us that you won’t find Uyghur food like this anywhere else, he cooks the same way they do back home, where he’s also expressed that he’s not been able to contact his family due to the aggression and genocide that is going on. It is heartbreaking and we only want the community to show up for him and really experience the love in his food and his culture. They also have polo on the menu but they don’t make it often since there isn’t much of a demand in the neighborhood (significant Central Asians and Russians population), but maybe you guys can change that! #WeWantPolo Chicken is from Restaurant Depot but it’s the hand-slaughtered chicken. Flushing, Queens is one of the city’s best neighborhoods for snacking! Here’s the ultimate food crawl… (WITH PRICES!) 🌟start off with pastries matcha and coffee @cafewbakery…. We spent a bit here but there were 4 of us and we all got coffee + milk bread to bring home! 🌟 White Bear is iconic and a must hit for their $10 wontons 🌟 we loved the pork over rice at Corner 28 🌟they also own @shanghaiyougarden across the street where you can find perfect duck buns for $2.50 or iconic soup dumplings 🌟the new world mall is a must visit and yes you could likely only eat here all day or try a few things like PanBao66 buns (stall 29) or Lanzhou Handmade Noodle (stall 5) 🌟right outside of the new world mall there is a stand selling tanghulu! 🌟 final savory of the day was @juqi_ny and which makes a stunning Peking duck…the food is unique for sure and the whole duck with caviar is $109 🌟 last stop was @meetfreshusa to try their new Thai milk tea series, shaved ice, grass jelly, bubble waffles, and more!! Starting a new series! The “Hidden Gems of Flushing”! First up we have Song Lai Xiang! YOU KNOW A SPOT IS AMAZING when they dont even have the correct name of the restaurant on their storefront. (the awning actually says: HAO FU WEN BBQ but don’t be confused!!). Ive been going here since they were in downtown Flushing on 41st ave and when they shut down, I was LITERALLY SO SAD. Then i found out they moved into Murray hill!! Their skewers are for real THE best, and made fresh the same day. But I gotta say their showstopper is the LA PI. I cannot find it THIS GOOD ANYWHERE ELSSE. I kid you not, anything you order here will be delicious. This time we got their fried tofu, their mochi potato, lamb skewers and cold noodles (LAPI) and everything was 10/10!!!! Spend the day with me as I eat my way through Flushing, Queens! We kicked things off on Prince St, where we got these fried pancakes—made fresh to order and fried to crispy perfection. Then, we hit the BBQ cart next to it, serving up THE BEST skewers in all of Flushing. We stopped by Teapulse for egg tarts and indulged in my very first egg burger, which warmed me up instantly. Then, wandered through Tangram Mall and grabbed more treats at 85°C Bakery before hunger struck again—so we wrapped up the day at New World Mall’s food court with juicy, soupy, pan-fried pork buns. 📍38th/39th Ave and Prince Street Flushing, NY 11354 Pancakes: They were good but I definitely recommend getting a drink somewhere because they made me feel parched. 3/5 Skewers: I’ve visited majority, if not all, the BBQ carts in Flushing and this by far is the best. Spiced perfectly, seasoned to perfection, and a steal for how much meat is on one skewer. 5/5 Teapulse: I can understand why the egg tarts sell out but I feel like they’re pretty standard. 3/5 Egg Burger: Just a simple egg and patty burger. The only variety is really what sauce you choose. Still good but pretty basic. 3/5 📍85°C Bakery Cafe - Flushing 133-33 39th Ave unit g2, Flushing, NY 11354 I wasn’t blown away with the options but was honestly shocked when I tried them at home.
