Here are my high fibre choc raspberry muffins: Makes 6 large muffins (~6g fibre each) Dry ingredients: 140g GF flour 25g cocoa powder 20g chia seeds 15g flaxseeds 1½ tsp baking powder ¼ tsp salt Wet ingredients: 70g extra virgin olive oil 100g sugar 2 large eggs 1 tsp vanilla 180mL milk (lactose free or almond) Fold through: 125g raspberries Preheat oven to 180°C and line 6 large muffin holes. Whisk all dry ingredients together in a bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla and milk until smooth. Pour wet into dry and mix until just combined. Rest batter for 5–10 minutes to thicken. Divide the batter between muffin holes. Add raspberries evenly. Bake for 25 minutes or until set in the centre. Cool 10 minutes before removing from tray. The low FODMAP diet is a diet that's been designed to help sufferers of IBS to decrease inflammation in their bowel and then slowly rebuild their diet with a wider variety of vegetables once everything's calmed down. It’s really important to note that the low FODMAP diet is an intervention used by registered dietitians to help their patients so it's really not something to take on by yourself.  The initial stage of the low FODMAP diet is an elimination diet where you remove lots of different types of fibres and plants from your diet until you feel that inflammation has reduced and then you slowly reintroduce.  The reintroduction phase is absolutely critical because maintaining a low FODMAP diet in the long term is extremely restrictive and it's not recommended. So whats the deal with the Low FODMAP diet??🤔   Eating a Low Fodmap diet for your IBS, SIBO, bloating, indigestion, etc…CAN be somewhat beneficial in the short term. 🫤   ‼️HOWEVER- a few things that I HAVE to point out:   1️⃣ Low Fodmap diets in general serve as a band-aid if that and NEVER gets to the root cause of your GUT issues.   2️⃣ Some of the foods that are deemed “good” in a Low Fodmap diet are things that WRECK your gut, such as nutritional yeast, oats, soy, peanuts and peanut butter, white and brown sugar, beer, etc…   3️⃣ Furthermore, some of the foods deemed “bad” in a Low Fodmap diet (such as AVOCADOS 🥑) are foods that literally STRENGTHEN you from the inside out, and can actually play a huge role in healing and sealing your gut lining.   4️⃣ There’s no focus on the SOURCE of some of these Low Fodmap foods. For example, chicken is considered a Low Fodmap food. But what kind of chicken⁉️ Conventionally grown chicken can actually be one of the MOST inflammatory foods you can put in your body. And if you’re trying to avoid foods that ultimately help with inflammation in the body then why isn’t there an emphasis on the source? 🤬 💥What’s my point – TEST, DON’T GUESS.   👏Let’s take the complexity out of healing our gut, and make this about what MY BODY needs to heal. Test to determine which foods are good and bad for you, not based on a list that someone gives you, but based on what your test results say.
