Fogg Behavioral Model - This model suggests that human behavior can be changed or inclined using three factors. 1) Motivation 2) Prompt 3) Ability Banner Blindness - It is simply a selective behavior, where the user tends to ignore information given in the form of a banner, as he/she feels it might be related to ads. Social Proof - Very popular and slightly obvious from the observations. Users tend to copy the actions of others. Fitts law - Users easily use the button if they are large enough and have enough space between them. Principle of reciprocity - People tend to feel a duty or commitment towards your side, if you have done something for them. . . . . #instagood#instagram#psychology#product#prodman##human#behaviour#trendy#learning#education

The Secret to Helping Your Teen Study Smarter (Not Harder!)

The Secret to Helping Your Teen Study Smarter (Not Harder!) – And It’s Not What You Think! Most advice on study habits focuses on time management, flashcards, and “just eliminating distractions.” But let’s be real—teens already know they should study more. The real challenge? Getting their brains to actually engage with the material instead of passively reading the same page over and over. Here’s what the science of learning actually says about studying effectively (and why your teen’s current habits might be working against them): 1. The “Testing Effect” – Why Practicing Recall Matters More Than Re-Reading Most teens re-read notes or highlight textbooks, thinking they’re absorbing information. But studies show that self-quizzing is 50% more effective than passive review. Encourage them to cover their notes and try to recall key points instead. The struggle to remember is what strengthens their memory. 2. The Fogg Behavior Model – Tiny Habits Make or Break Studying Psychologist BJ Fogg found that behavior change happens when motivation, ability, and triggers align. Instead of saying, “Study for an hour,” help your teen start with something easy—like reviewing one question after dinner every night. Small habits done consistently beat marathon study sessions every time. 3. The Sleep-Learning Connection – Why Cramming Is a Waste of Time Here’s the wild part: Your teen’s brain “replays” newly learned information in their sleep. If they study late at night and don’t get enough rest, their brain never properly consolidates that info. The result? They forget most of what they studied. Prioritizing consistent sleep patterns is the easiest way to boost memory retention. 4. The “Mental Filing Cabinet” Trick – How to Make Information Stick When teens struggle to retain facts, it’s usually because they’re trying to store them in isolation. Help them create mental hooks by connecting new information to something they already know. For example, if they’re learning about the French Revolution, ask: “How is this similar to something happening in the world today?” Making these connections builds a stronger memory network. ⬇️

The Fogg Behavior model explains that 3 elements must be present for a behavior to for change to occur: Motivation, Ability, and Prompt. When a behavior does not occur, at least one of the 3 elements is missing. How can you use this to encourage change and growth in your life?

The Fogg Behavioral Model, developed by Dr. BJ Fogg at Stanford University, explains human behavior through three elements: motivation, ability, and triggers. Motivation: Describes the person’s desire or willingness to engage in a behavior, influenced by factors like rewards, goals, or social pressure. Ability: Refers to the person’s capability to perform the behavior, considering factors such as time, money, skills, and effort required. Triggers: Cues or prompts that remind or motivate individuals to perform a behavior, which can be external (notifications, reminders) or internal (emotions, thoughts). According to the model, high motivation and ability, even with a small trigger, lead to the desired behavior. Conversely, low motivation or ability may prevent behavior, even with a strong trigger. For instance, wanting to meditate daily requires high motivation (stress reduction, focus improvement) and ability (quiet space, meditation cushion). A simple trigger like a phone reminder can effectively prompt meditation if motivation and ability are high. However, low motivation or lack of a quiet space may render reminders ineffective. Understanding the Fogg Behavioral Model enables the design of interventions, products, or experiences that facilitate behaviors. By addressing motivation, ability, and triggers, effective strategies can be developed to encourage positive behaviors or change existing ones.

Some of today’s notes, The Fogg Behavior Model is more commonly discussed in the context of product design I’m pretty sure but I think it’s interesting to consider in the context of interior design. What choices have we made in our spaces that impact our behaviors? Probably more than we think. At least that’s what I think, I’m not an expert in any of this stuff but I’m enjoying sharing as I learn 🫶🏻 Would love to hear your thoughts and perspectives! #apartmentdesign #home #design #interiordesign #habits

#BehavioralDesign #FoggBehaviorModel #UXDesign #UserExperience #HiExperience #ProductDesign

Most product decisions fail for one reason: PMs design for logic, not psychology. The best products exploit simple mental models: • Fogg Model → Make the action ridiculously easy. • Peak-End Rule → Engineer memorable moments. • Loss Aversion → Protect what users feel they might lose. 126,432

We can only operate within our current abilities. To get better at anything requires that we strategically stretch the limits of those abilities to create learning and adaptation. This must be strategic because an effort that is very hard requires more motivation, time, and sacrifice to sustain. If we work too hard for too long, we will fail. This is explained by The Fogg Behavior model. The fact is, what you are able to do right now may not be enough to get you where you want to go. It may not be enough to create the adaptation that you are looking for, physically, mentally, or both. You have to grow your abilities over time. This is an intuitive part of most processes but for some reason, people have a hard time comprehending that it is part of the nutrition, fitness, and health process too. Maybe it’s because these kinds of improvements can seem, on paper, to be very simple. But human behavior change is not simple. And the changes to be made might be simple, but they are rarely easy. Think of this in the context of something unrelated to health or fitness. Let’s think of learning an instrument, the guitar. If you set the goal of learning the guitar, you probably wouldn’t sit down in front of a Freebird tutorial and expect to be able to play it after a few weeks of lessons. Having great expectations of physical progress at the very beginning of a health, fitness, or nutrition program is like doing 2 weeks of guitar lessons and then expecting to play Freebird. You aren’t entitled to anything just because you are working hard. All you are entitled to is the decision to control how you direct your attention and energy while you slowly develop enough ability and capacity to eventually reach your goals. And what that takes is rigorous, relentless consistency with the tiny little things that you do every day. That is how you move mountains and change your life. There is nothing sexy about working very hard for a long time without seeing the results you want. That type of thing is not what makes headlines or trends on twitter. But that is what is required to learn and grow into the person you want to be and get where you want to go.
