The legendary Forth Bridge by @myfleetingvision Considered a legendary landmark in Scotland, the Forth Rail Bridge is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the second-longest cantilever span bridge in the world. Opened in 1890, the railway bridge crosses the Firth of Forth, west of central Edinburgh. Serviced by two train stations on either side, the bridge is a must-visit for those in the area. Hitchcock fans will also recognise this iconic bridge from its appearance in The 39 Steps. Huge thanks to @myfleetingvision for this beautiful video. #hiddenscotland #scotland #visitscotland

❤️🏴 The bridge is painted in its famous Forth Bridge Red, a distinctive colour created using iron oxide pigment. This pigment was chosen not only for its bold appearance, but also for its durability and resistance to corrosion. #scotland #forthbridge #southqueensferry #scottish

The original Forbidden Red❤️ This iconic bridge wasn’t just an engineering marvel; it was a direct response to the tragic Tay Bridge collapse, designed with overwhelming strength using 55,000 tons of steel. It’s also the reason we have the phrase “like painting the Forth Bridge” – a never-ending task (though modern paints help)! It’s iconic colour is still officially called ‘Forth Bridge Red’. A true Scottish legend since 1890 and a well-deserved UNESCO World Heritage Site. #ForthBridge #Edinburgh #DidYouKnow #railways_worldwide #railwaybridge #railwayhistory #scottishhistory #thisisedinburgh #unlimitedscotland #dronevideos

At over 2.5km in length, the Forth Road Bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world outside of the US when it was completed in 1964. However, when the new Queensferry Crossing was finished in 2017, this one got relegated to buses, taxis and pedestrians only. Fun to walk across but if you suffer from vertigo, don't look down 🙈😂 . . . #forthroadbridge #scotland #edinburgh #forthbridge #queensferrycrossing

. 🎬 François Mazure, Renaud Hoyois, Jean-François Grégoire . #forthbridge #écosse #scotland #edimbourg #edinburgh #visitscotland #voyage #edinburgh #scotlandtravel #uk #highlands #voyage #travelgram #instagood #worldtraveler #instatravel #traveling #traveltheworld #igtravel #travelingram

Soaring over the Stirling Old Bridge 😍🌳 The present Stirling Old Bridge was built in the 1400s or 1500s, replacing a succession of timber bridges. Just downstream, the shadow of the original Stirling Bridge still looms. This was the site where William Wallace and Andrew Moray, outnumbered but unbroken, carved their's and Scotland's defiance into legend when they defeated and outsmarted a much larger English army at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297 ⚔️ Wallace's legacy still echoes through this historic landscape and lives on at The National Wallace Monument seen in the distance here 🏰 #StirlingOldBridge #WallaceMonument #BattleOfStirlingBridge #WilliamWallace #AndreyMoray #Stirling #StirlingAlive #Scotland #VisitScotland #ScotlandIsNow #Dji #JamieTaylorPhotography

@myinstascotland Forth Rail Bridge, South Queensferry A regular ferry operated between North and South Queensferry as far back as the 12th century. It was established for those making the pilgrimage to St Andrews. By the 18th century, it was reckoned to be the busiest ferry in Scotland, linking the North East of the country with Edinburgh and the south. In the second half of the 19th century it was time to build a bridge. The final bridge was designed by engineers John Fowler and Benjamin Baker. The work on the foundations of the Forth Bridge started in February 1883, work at the site had begun in 1882 with the construction of steel fabrication workshops on the south side of the river. The bridge was completed in December 1889 and the following month it underwent load testing. Two trains, each comprising three locomotives and 50 wagons loaded with coal (weighing in at a total of 1,880 tons for the two – twice the design load of the bridge) were driven slowly out onto the bridge, stopping frequently for measurements to be taken. In February the first complete crossing of the bridge took place, with a train carrying the chairmen of the various railway companies involved. On March 4, 1890, the Forth railway bridge – known ever as simply The Forth Bridge – was officially opened by the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII. The world’s first major steel structure, the Forth Bridge represents a key milestone in the history of modern railway civil engineering and still holds the record as the world’s longest cantilever bridge. A full-scale restoration project to return the bridge to its original construction condition was completed in 2012. In July 2015, UNESCO inscribed the Forth Bridge as the sixth World Heritage Site in Scotland. 📸 @myinstascotland #forthrailbridge #forthbridge #unesco #unescoworldheritage #Scotland #scotlandlover #scotland_greatshots #lovescotland #loves_scotland #igscotland #ig_scotland #instascotland #insta_scotland #explorescotland #visitscotland #thisisscotland #traveling_scotland #wonderlustscotland #scotlandexplore #hiddenscotland #unlimitedscotland #yourscotland #scotlandtravel #scotlandisnow #scotlandphotography #simplysco
