Un art que semblent maîtriser à la perfection Tojo, Lesambilo et Tsilany, trois jeunes nés au @zoodeparis en mai dernier. 🐾 Sous l’œil attentif de leur mère, la fratrie enchaîne roulades et sauts d’arbres en arbres avec une agilité impressionnante : presque un jeu d’enfant pour ce mammifère arboricole emblématique de Madagascar, et l’entraînement idéal pour apprendre à chasser ses proies. Faisant partie des plus grands carnivores sauvages de l’île, il se nourrit principalement de lémuriens. On le reconnaît à sa longue queue, qui peut atteindre 70 cm de long, et lui sert de balancier lorsqu’il se déplace en hauteur. Classée vulnérable par l’Union Internationale pour la Conservation de la Nature (UICN), l’espèce est aujourd’hui menacée par la destruction de son habitat et la prolifération d’espèces introduites comme les chiens, les chats ou certains rongeurs. C’est pourquoi le Parc zoologique de Paris s’engage activement dans la conservation du fossa, en participant non seulement au suivi des populations à Madagascar mais aussi à leur préservation au sein du programme d’élevage européen (EEP) 🌍💚 🎥 © MNHN – G.
