BASIL OIL 🌿 The perfect way to use up a tonne of fresh basil, especially if you’re looking for something else to make other than pesto! It adds a beautiful fresh flavour and instantly elevates any dish. Ingredients 1 bunch fresh basil, leaves only Neutral oil (I used avocado - see step 4 for exact ratios) Method: 1. Bring a pot of water to a boil and prepare an ice bath on the side. Rinse the leaves well then add to the water and blanch for 10-15 seconds until wilted and vibrant green. 2. Immediately transfer the basil into an ice bath to stop the cooking and preserve the colour. 3. Once cooled, drain and squeeze out as much water as possible and transfer into a blender with twice the amount of oil by weight (a 1:2 ratio of basil to oil). For example, if using 100g basil, add 200mL oil. The more oil you use, the milder the flavour will be and vice versa. Blend until completely smooth. 4. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, cheesecloth or coffee filter and allow it to slowly strain, separating the oil from the pulp. 5. Transfer the leftover pulp to a jar, top with a little oil, cover and store in the fridge. It’s perfect stirred through pasta or spread onto toast (you can season with a pinch of salt if you like). 6. Transfer the oil into a clean jar or squeeze bottle and store in the fridge. Use within 3-5 days for best freshness, or up to 1 week. #plantbased #veganrecipes #easyrecipes #basiloil #basil

Growing Basil 🌱💧 Here are my top tips for growing your shop bought basil 1. ALWAYS water from the saucer! 2. NEVER let the saucer run dry. The plant will only drink what it needs 3. Place in a sunny spot. Basil likes sun for 6-8 hours a day 4. Try and avoid trimming for the first month at least 5. Repot into a bigger pot, bigger pot, bigger plant I have this plant for almost 2 months now & I have only taken cuttings from them now to make more basil plants. ALWAYS trim the stem just above a leaf. Save this post for future reference 📌 #basil #herbgarden #toptips #growingbasil

THE BASIL TRICK 🌿 1. Never water the soil, only water the saucer 2. Always keep the saucer full 3. Never pluck, always trim the stem just above a leaf Some other helpful tips: 4. Use an XL saucer or bowl. It will drink what it needs! 5. Repotting into a bigger pot will mean a bigger basil! Use normal potting soil. You can split supermarket plants into multiple pots if you want. 6. This works best in the warmer months and indoors 7. Basil loves a sunny spot 🌞 8. Wait a month or so before you trim 9. STEP BY STEP GUIDE on HOW TO GROW AN ENDLESS SUPPLY OF BASIL FOR FREE! 🌱🌱🌱 Basil is one of the easiest herbs to propogate and multiply! All you need are some cuttings from your favorite basil plant and a glass of water!! 1. Take cuttings of basil stems that are not flowering or diseased. Cut a 4 to 6 inch long stem, leaving small baby leaves intact on the mother plant to continue growing. 2. Strip off the leaves from the bottom 2 inches of the stem. 3. Place it in a glass of water making sure that no leaves are submerged under water. 4. Change the water every 2 days. 5. Roots should start developing in 7 to 10 days. Once roots are about an inch or two long transplant into a well draining pot or container that’s filled with rich, fluffy, organic soil. You can also transplant into the garden too if the weather is suitable. You can multiply basil whenever you want but especially do it in late summer before your basil plant succumbs to frost in fall. Many other herbs can be multiplied or propagated in water from cuttings too! Mint, oregano, thyme and stevia are a few good options! BASIL GROWING HACK - Most people let basil grow straight up, eventually wondering why it looks tall, spindly, and exhausted. However, there is a simple trick to transform your harvest by cutting just above the nodes. Look for the little crossroads on the stem where tiny leaves are waiting to sprout, because that one small snip changes the entire biological trajectory of the plant by shifting its focus from height to health. When you prune above a node, the plant does more than just grow back. It diverts its energy into two new branches from that exact point, effectively turning one stem into two. If you repeat this process on those new stems, you suddenly have four. Through this exponential growth, you stop the plant from stretching vertically and instead force it to build a wide and sturdy foundation. Give it a few months and the difference is night and day. Unpruned basil rushes to flower and seed as it becomes sparse and woody, while pruned basil transforms into a dense bush with massive harvests. It is the same plant and the same soil, but your decisions dictate the outcome. By guiding the growth rather than just watching it, you turn a tired herb into a lush kitchen powerhouse.

Did you know you can do this with a pot of basil?! 😲🌱 I have so much growing from just one single plant.. . . . . #basil #basilica #herbs #recipes #lifehacks #diy #howto #kitchenhacks #recycle #upcycle #hacks #creativeexplained #garden #gardening #plants #plantsofinstagram #gardenlife #sustainableliving #howto #plantfood #growyourownfood #plantstagram #magic #organicgardening #instadaily #tiktokstar

Stop wasting your Basil 🌱 Here is how to harvest it correctly so that it keeps on growing 🌿 If you harvest your Basil correctly, it will keep on growing and grow as a little bush giving you plenty of new fresh leaves. I’m showing two examples: 🌱 Harvesting on a small plant 🌿 Harvesting on a more developed plant To have a bushy Basil plant, always harvest above a set of leaves. By repeating this, your Basil won’t grow on one stem only but on several new ones by redirecting its energy. It’s kind of exponential and it works amazing! You may soon end up with loads of Basil, so preserve it to not waste it! 🌿 Preserve in ice cube trays with olive oil 🌿 Make some Basil insfused water 🌿 Dry your Basil Wish you to harvest loads of Basil the whole summer! Green Love to You! 💚 #basil #plantcare #gardeningtips
