Are you hypnotized yet? 👁️ Characterized by their lime green bodies, bright orange feet, and bulging red eyes, the red-eyed-tree frog’s gaze has been known to momentarily paralyze predators who wake the nocturnal frog during the day. This technique is known as startle coloration. While holding its predator in a temporary trance, the frog is able to escape in a moment of seconds. What’s more, they actually have three eyelids per eye. Two are transparent, and the third semi-transparent lid is called the nictitating membrane. This membrane with its zebra-stripe-like design helps camouflage the frog’s stark red eyes while maintaining its vision.
