Why should you utilise a front foot elevated split squat? A split squat is a great unilateral exercise that is commonly used. However, the floor tends to be a bit of a limiter when it comes to range of motion. By raising the front foot, you'll be able to get more depth, which allows for increased knee and hip flexion. This extra range of motion will lead to greater muscle fibre recruitment and force output, allowing you to be a force on the field, mats, court, *insert other sporting arena* You don't always have to train through deep ranges of motion, and your sport may not regularly expose you to these positions... But when it does, you'll be glad you've got strength through these ranges!

Your split squats aren’t the problem…your setup is. Most people turn this into a quad exercise without realizing it. Fix it: • Longer stride • Slight forward lean • Keep your shin more vertical Small changes = completely different stimulus. Save this for your next leg day.

Front foot elevated split squats are still good too. However, if you really want to increase the range of motion you should elevate both feet instead. FFE split squats will limit your ability to stand all the way upright at the top of the movement. Elevating both feet eliminates this problem. If you have any questions, comment below. There isn’t THAT much difference between front squat and back squat Assuming you’re doing full ROM, ATG, Olympic lifting style squats, the pattern is almost identical The main difference is the loading potential of the back squat is significantly higher than the front squat (about 120-130% more depending on the lifter) If your high bar ATG back squat has increased, it’s pretty much guaranteed that your front squat will have gone up too It isn’t always the case for the reverse (although it does happen) This isn’t to say training front squats more often will not increase your front squat It is to say that you’ll increase your front squat much faster by focusing more of your effort on increasing your back squat (for the reasons above) Specificity is important, but as I already mentioned above, the high bar ATG back squat is very, very mechanically similar to the front squat Progressive overload is important too, and back squat universally has a much higher loading potential than the front squat

Smith Machine Front Squat🏋🏾‍♂️🦵🏾 Feet: Hip-width apart, heels elevated on small plates or wedges. 🦶⬆️ Bar Placement: Rest the bar on your elbows in a front rack position. 🏋️‍♂️ Torso: Chest up, shoulders back, core engaged. 🧠 Knee Alignment: Knees tracking over toes, not collapsing inward. 🔄 Focus: Maintain balance and control before starting the squat. ⚖️ Movement & Benefits Squat slowly, pausing 2 seconds at the bottom ⏱️, then drive through your heels to stand tall 🚀. Builds strong quads and glutes 🍑, strengthens the core 💥, improves balance and posture 📏, and is easier on the lower back than traditional squats ✅ Follow for tips & DM for personal training 💪🏾

Top set: 425lb safety bar hand-supported RFE split squat. Stability up = load up. Taking balance and grip out of it means your legs are the limiting factor, not your balance or your grip. More force into the ground, more load on the target muscles, more real strength built. This is how you actually train single-leg strength.

A stronger squat means bigger legs, more force production, and even a longer life 🙃 lol, 3 of my favorite squat hacks, here we go! 1.) Change the style of squat or the exercise in it’s entirety!! Sometimes you have lacked variation for too long or you have a foundational issue that needs to be fixed. A weak link in the chain, in other words. Most commonly, someone who has mainly done an Olympic style, high bar squat - I like switching them to a front squat. It will help with the upright positioning, quad development, and just give a different stimulus. Other times if there’s a foundational issue, I’ll entirely remove bilateral squatting motions and swap for things like split squats and step ups. This is especially good if you are lacking range or look different from left to right. Often, when you return, you’ll experience a new jump in gains. 2.) Try going into one of the extremes for a short period of time. What do I mean by that? Between volume, intensity, methods, etc, go in a direction that you haven’t touched in a while or maybe even ever! It may sound crazy, but for some people, doing a short phase of 20 reps can spur new strength gains. Or if you haven’t gone terribly heavy, go that direction. Two of my favorites are breathing squats and simple doubles - but with long eccentrics. You can look up the breathing squat but the doubles would be 6-10 sets of two reps. You ascend in load and do a 4-8 second eccentric. 3.) Adding pauses. This is one of the simplest but most magnificently complex things. On a science level, pauses or isometrics, do some crazy stuff!!! On the cave man side, if you are weak somewhere, spend time there. Are you weak out of the bottom? Do a pause there. Weak in the mid range or lockout, do a pause. Here I’m doing a Klokov squat with a 6 second pause in the bottom. Another favorite, which I did in the B series with a front squat, is a 3 second pause in the mid range during the concentric. The Klokov is great for singles. The other is great for sets of 2-4 the way I’ve used them. Now go squat! And help the world squat more. True love is helping your buddy squat more. Send them some love lol 😅
