Think about it holistically, if our body is adaptable and we can manage movement with high force and at high speed then we’re pretty robust and prepared for the chaos of basketball. Remember this is all contextual. Of course it’s important to periodise and manage load, however taking the preventative measures and concious effort to get into and load in more positions will serve you well with the unpredictability. Think about loading in the traditional sense of lifting, you’re not going to get under 100 kg if you’ve never touched that weight before, build tolerance by loading in unconventional ways according to the movement demands of the sport.
