But, if all you’re doing is a bunch of high rep, low load crunching movements just to get a “burn,” you’re missing out on a lot of potential gains! Your midsection is responsible for so much - extension, rotation, lateral flexion, flexion, etc. and there’s so much more to it than just developing a six pack…which crunches aren’t all that effective in doing anyway! So if crunches can’t spot reduce fat and they’re not particularly effective in building abs, then you might as well opt for functional core movements that also help you with stability, balance, coordination, and help you with overall total body strength which in turn helps everything else!
