💟 SOLD | Elegant Mid-Century “Rhona” Lowslung, Wide Sideboard by Frystark | 💟 SOLD (05831) This Mid-Century Modern sideboard by Frystark formed part of their highly sought-after “Status” Danish-inspired range from the 1960s. Frystark furniture is renowned for its elegant proportions and quality craftsmanship. Pieces from the Status range are especially versatile — they work well as room dividers as they are finished beautifully on the rear. The layout of this sideboard includes: — left-hand compartment with two doors (magnetic closures) opening to a shelved interior — bank of drawers (with original Frystark key), including a felt-lined top drawer with cutlery compartments — right-hand drop-down drinks cabinet with half-depth glass shelf for glasses (no key) The whole unit is beautifully supported by a sculpted base. Overall, the design’s grained wood is complemented by sculpted recessed drawer pulls — a distinctive Frystark design detail. DIMENSIONS cm : 205.5 w 45.5 d 76 h - - Condition: Sturdy and excellent, unrestored vintage condition with very light wear consistent with age and use. A couple of minor “flea bites” to the finish along the bottom edge of the left-hand side panel, and to the top left corner of the right-hand door. The top surface shows a few lighter marks, but nothing visually distracting. - - About Frystark: Frystark furniture was manufactured in Port Elizabeth from 1948 by brothers Derick and Douglas Frye. They sourced veneers, oils and design inspiration from Europe, and the Danish Modern aesthetic of the era strongly influenced their work. In the 1960s, the company relocated to Cape Town to join forces with Starke Furniture Manufacturers.
