The emission of intense light and radiation from the Active Galactic Nuclei are powered by supermassive black holes voraciously feeding on infalling matter. This feeding frenzy unleashes a torrent of radiation that can outshine the collective light of billions of stars in the host galaxy. If nothing can escape from a black hole, then how can a black hole form the brightest objects in the universe? 👉The answer to this question is the gas and dust that is pulled by the black hole's gravity does not actually cross the event horizon. The event horizon is the point of no return, beyond which nothing can escape the black hole's gravity. Instead, the gas and dust spirals or swirls around the black hole at very high speeds without crossing the event horizon. This causes friction that heats up the gas and dust, causing it to emit intense light and radiation.
