❗️The easiest way to get FREE plants❗️ Multiply pelargoniums to make more free plants for your garden. Do it between now and early summer. * Select none flowering healthy, vigorous soft topped shoots of current season growth * Cut the stem just below a node * Fill pots with peat-free compost mixed with sharp sand or horticultural grit for extra drainage if you have it. I love geraniums, but one thing you need to know is they need to be planted early in the season. Sometimes people wait to plant until it’s already summer, and then they’re disappointed when the don’t get new blooms. They prefer to be planted in early spring. A stranger on the Internet once told me I was deadheading my geraniums the wrong way. I decided to try the “right way” to deadhead geraniums to see if the stranger was right! And I’m here to tell you she was! I’m able to get way more blooms by pulling off the entire expired stem as opposed to snipping off the spent bloom! •BIG IMPACT• Ik heb de eettafel buiten gevuld met een grote pot met geraniums en eerlijk… ik word hier zó blij van 😍 Die volle bloemen, die knalkleuren en het feit dat ze de hele tafel meteen tot leven brengen. Het geeft direct dat zomerse, gezellige gevoel alsof je op vakantie bent in je eigen tuin. En wat ik zo fijn vind aan geraniums? Ze blijven lang mooi, geven ontzettend veel kleur af, zijn gemakkelijk in onderhoud én maken zelfs een simpele tafel meteen sfeervol. Ich liebe liebe einfach die unkomplizierten Dauerblüher wie Geranium 'Rozanne' 'Dreamland' 'Anne Thomson' 'Sweet Hedi' 'Azur Rush ' 'Pink Penny' Die blühen von Mai bis zum Frost durchgehend! Perfekt für Gartenneulinge! Damit kann man nichts verkehrt machen, selbst wenn du im Sommer mit dem Rasenmäher drüber fährst... Er wird sofort wieder blühen! Sind aber im Winter vom Laub her komplett verschwunden & kommen komplett frisch wieder! Das ist aber super um das Ganze mit Frühjahrsblühern in den Zwischenräumen zu bepflanzen! Zack Blühlücke geschlossen! Wer aber auf flächigen Bodendecker setzt der sollte eher Sorten wie Biokovo Spessart Czacor Cambridge Karmina oder ähnliche nehmen! Die sind nämlich auch im Winter da und im Frühjahr wieder Ruck zuck grün. So halten sie die Fläche nahezu unkrautfrei! Und natürlich gibt's noch ganz ganz viele andere wie z.b. Geranium 'Rosemoor' mit seinen leuchtenden blau, oder 'Espresso' oder 'Bloom chocolate ' mit ihren geilen dunklen Blättern!, da ist für jeden der richtige dabei! Na... Got grey mould (Botrytis) on your geraniums? Don’t panic! They can bounce back. If you’ve overwintered a geranium, it’s very common to see mouldy or dead foliage as the plant wakes up and starts growing again. Geraniums, especially Pelargoniums, the ones most of us grow in pots and window boxes, naturally slowdown in winter. In cool, damp conditions, old leaves can develop Botrytis, a fungal disease that thrives on decaying plant material. The key is a quick clean-up: ✂️ Cut back any dead stems to where the fresh green growth begins 🍂 Remove mouldy or damaged leaves so the fungus can’t spread 🌱 Improve air circulation and light around the plant Geraniums are wonderfully resilient plants. Once tidied up, they’ll redirect their energy into strong new shoots, and with a little sunshine and feeding, they’ll reward you with flowers right through summer and often into autumn. And here’s a useful tip many gardeners don’t realise… Regular deadheading and light pruning throughout the season encourage bushier plants and more blooms.
