PART 2: Lets get some concrete placed! Something BIG is coming to my backyard! Follow along to see the epic results! 🙌 Even though we were freezing 🥶 things had to continue moving forward this weekend! We got rid of the shovels and rented a two person auger from @homedepot to get these holes completed in record time! Got everything squared and leveled off so we knew the exact height of the decking and where we needed to pour the concrete footers for the support posts. Time to add joist tape. Some builders swear by it, others say they’ve never used it and their decks are still standing decades later. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here. Do your research, weigh up the cost, and decide what makes sense for your build. If it fits the budget, it’s one of those steps that can add a bit of extra protection long term. Doing things a little differently on this one. Since this is a ground-level deck and the build’s being done solo, the joist hangers are going in early to make the rest of the process easier. Anything that simplifies the work and saves time is a win. What do you think about the deck progress? I think having someone else do the framing was definitely the way to go. I’ve had my head down, focusing on finishing up the deck so that we can use it but before we can actually walk out there and use it safely I need to get the stair rails and the rails around the deck finished. #diy #diydeck #homeimprovement #yardmakeover
