how to prepare for your first hackathon, for complete beginners with no coding experience or tech background two steps to potentially take: 1. install a modern framework + other setups associated onto your computer (in this case, react). And google a youtube tutorial specific to your computer and follow it all the way through 2. Understand how debugging will work. Use stack overflow, github copilot, and chatgpt to handle errors. Paste the error you get into the internet and go to stack overflow first, work through the answers, and continue persevering through the hackathon until you resolve your problem. That’s just two recommendations. Best of luck on your first hackathon! You got it! Thank you to @mobilepixelsus for the gorgeous transportable and touch-screen monitor, and @asiansnacks.us for providing some hack snacks! Both products are linked in my beacons.ai link! The next steps after that would be to figure out how to implement features and apis through youtube tutorials. I can possibly make a video on that if in demand. Remember, that these tips worked for me but everyone is different! #computerscience #hackathon#computerengineering #softwareengineering #nerds #womenintech #faang #google #meta #engineering #engineeringmemes #explore #reels #tech #vr #github #programming #programmingmemes #cs #explore #foryou #reels #hackathonwin #collegelife #college

3 HACKATHON TIPS I used to ship like a demon and win google’s gemini hackathon and the cursor hackathon in sg

⬇️READ THE CAPTION⬇️ Hi guys, as a 8x hackathon winner, I have gathered the do's and dont's along the way and I want to share it with you all! Most hackathon teams lose before they even start coding. Not because they aren’t smart. Not because they don’t work hard. But because they don’t understand how hackathons are actually judged. After multiple hackathons — wins, losses, finals, and last-minute pitch rewrites — I realized something important: Hackathons are not coding competitions. They are compressed product-building simulations. You are judged on: • Problem clarity • Solution relevance • Execution quality • Innovation • Presentation And here’s what most people get wrong: They overbuild. They overscope. They underestimate the pitch. They ask mentors vague questions. They forget that communication is 20% of the score. Winning teams do the opposite. They freeze scope early. They build ONE core feature properly. They add one strategic “wow factor.” They rehearse their demo. They pitch with clarity and confidence. More hackathons are won in the final presentation than during the 3AM coding sprint. There is a lot more that I want to share, comment "guide" for a detailed breakdown! This Hackathon Mastery Blueprint breaks down: • How to structure a 30-second elevator pitch • How to build a balanced team • How to ship an MVP in 24 hours • How to ask mentors strategic questions • How judges actually score projects • How to network after the event (this is underrated) If you’re serious about winning — or at least performing at your highest level — this is the framework. Save this before your next hackathon. And tag your team. Let’s build smarter. 🚀 #techevents #hackathon #engineering #tech #trending
