Project Maxing Day 11-14! I decided to build this because at my first hackathon, I was super confused on everything and it took 12 hours JUST to set up the project (backend, frontend connection, database) and get it working with my teammates. so you want to start going to hackathons and you’re trying to come up with an idea here are 3 steps to coming up with a good idea for a hackathon The first step is to put away chatgpt - set a timer for 30 minutes and just think (without distractions) -what is a problem in the world that can be solved? -what particular ideas make you excited? -what technologies are out there that you can make better? Second step is to go feature by feature and test uniqueness -Look at how this application could be from the user perspective -Collect research on those ideas -then develop a technical path of integration Third step is to frame the idea -not only does the idea have to be technical, you should create a creative/compelling name or core around it. -you should be genuinely compelled/enthusiastic about the idea this applies to all ideas, not just human centric/societal/feeling ones. if you genuinely compelled by optimizing the developer experience or even making crypto marketplaces this brainstorming method can be applicable to all ideas shoutout to @ciaracade for the tech cadets it’s is already becoming a great community! how to prepare for your first hackathon, for complete beginners with no coding experience or tech background two steps to potentially take: 1. install a modern framework + other setups associated onto your computer (in this case, react). And google a youtube tutorial specific to your computer and follow it all the way through 2. Understand how debugging will work. Use stack overflow, github copilot, and chatgpt to handle errors. Paste the error you get into the internet and go to stack overflow first, work through the answers, and continue persevering through the hackathon until you resolve your problem.
