KOSMOS ARP | KÖNIG HIRSCH Sophie Taeubers Marionetten: Wache Mit ihren Wachen schuf Sophie Taeuber konzeptuell und durch den eindrucksvollen roboterartigen Aufbau eine der spannendsten Marionetten zu König Hirsch. Für den futuristisch anmutenden Körper verschmilzt die Künstlerin fünf Wächter in nur einer Figur – quasi zu einer Armee. Die silberfarbene Fassung lässt an eine metallisch glänzende Rüstung denken, unter der sie die Wachen vereint. Die Anordnung der fünf Köpfe der im Kreis gruppierten klobigen Beine und die zu Waffen verlängerten Armen geben der Figur einen Bewegungsspielraum von 360 Grad – allzeit bereit, wachsam nach allen Richtungen Ausschau zu halten, um das Königreich Serendip und dessen König Deramo zu verteidigen. // Sophie Taeuber's Marionettes: Guard With her guards, Sophie Taeuber created one of the most exciting puppets for King Stag, both conceptually and through the impressive robot-like structure. For the futuristic-looking body, the artist fuses five guards into just one figure - to form an army, so to speak. The silver-coloured frame is reminiscent of shiny metallic armour under which she unites the guards. Hans ARP was founding member of the DADA movement, an art movement formed in negative reaction to the horrors of First World war. His works can be seen in museums worldwide, among them the @themuseumofmodernart New York. Interesting Fact: His wife Sophie Taeuber was a teacher for textile design in Zurich, ensuring the couple’s livelihood.
