Did ya know? Jackrabbits are hares, not rabbits. Hares are born fully developed with fur and open eyes 👀 - while rabbits are born without fur and with closed eyes! 😌 Video: A jackrabbit hops toward the camera and begins eating some sweet potato. #desertmuseum #tucson #tucsonaz #hares #jackrabbit #animalfacts #sonorandesert #southernarizona

These are both snowshoe hares. . . . [These are both snowshoe hares To protect themselves against predators, their fur changes color depending on the season. During the winter, snowshoe hares are white to blend in with the snow. And during the spring and summer, snowshoe hares turn a reddish-brown to camouflage with dirt and rocks. However, not every part of the snowshoe hare changes color throughout the year. The tips of their ears are always black no matter the season.] #NaturePBS #Nature #Wildlife #Animals #Hares

Please excuse the shaky footage, I only had a monopod with me! But I recently spent an hour or so with the local hares and got some video clips - I really hope you enjoy! #wildlife #photography #videography #hares @nikoneurope @thewildlifetrusts @cornwallwildlifetrust

It was pretty amazing to see two Orkney hares this morning, right outside the house. They were busy cleaning themselves just beyond the window – and they were impressively large! Their grooming sessions are a normal part of their routine — a bit like a cat’s daily maintenance, but on a larger, wilder scale! If you’re in an area with heather or grassy patches nearby, they likely use the garden or surrounding land as a safe resting/feeding spot. #orkneywildlife #orkney #orkneyuncovered #hares

Something a little different for a Monday but too good not to share. What a gorgeous sunny weekend, it really makes you appreciate EVERYTHING! And on a lovely ride with the kiddos and we come across 4 hares skipping about in a field on the farm, totally content and minding their own business and just having fun, what a way to live life #bemorehare Hope you had a gorgeous weekend whatever you were doing. Ps I generally ignore social media at weekends, I really try to switch off and forget about it, especially as I use it as a “work” tool, hence the vid now from the weekend. I know it’s probably not good for the algorithm but #whocares! #Wildlife #hares #marchhares The other side of my business | real life small business | fabric and wallpaper seller | love designing | love nature

Out on the farm and lucky enough to witness this incredible moment, boxing hares captured by Philip Miles from our Oxford office 🐇 It’s moments like this that highlight the essential role farmers play in caring for the countryside. Through thoughtful land management and ongoing conservation work, farms can support a rich diversity of wildlife alongside food production. LEVERET FEEDING! ❤️ These two hare leverets (Lepus europaeus) came into us from another rescue centre after being found weak and lethargic on a farm. They were only a day or so old when they came in. Hare leverets are born fully furred, eyes open, and above ground usually in long grass. They are also left alone all day with the mother usually only coming to feed them once a day in the evening. From the condition of the leverets sadly it was obvious they had been abandoned. As leverets are such shy creatures they require very specific care and quiet environments. Our founder Megan very often takes the leverets we get in to take on rearing them to give them more intensive 1:1 care. Here is a video of her feeding these two! 💚 #leveret #leverets #hares #europeanhares #ukmammals #britishmammals #environment #britishwildlife #wildliferehab #wildlife #nature #wildliferehabilitation #wildlifecharity #saveourspecies #animals #conservation #wildlifeconservation #cuanwildlife #ukwildlife #shropshire Each year we treat over 6500 creatures and therefore need to raise over £500,000 to cover the day-to-day running costs. 🌿 Spring in ‘hare’ step… but why? Last May, we spotted a lone hare exploring new areas of restoration. (our site (new wetland). Now? There’s more than one, so it’s not just the Lapwings exploring this new wetland territory. Hares are usually solitary—unlike rabbits, which live in colonies and warrens—so seeing a pair (or even more) raises an interesting question… Are they forming a loose group? A ‘drove’? If so, it could mean something exciting: ✔️ There’s enough food to support them ✔️ Our habitat restoration is starting to work The night vision on our trail cameras is already catching glimpses of the antics of these nocturnal hares. (Lovely to see these nocturnal hare antics) And with March here… could we be about to witness “Mad March Hare” behaviour? That’s when females ‘box off’ persistent males—yes, literally 🥊 👉 Follow along and save the post to see what happens next in their story.👉 Comment below—have you ever seen hares behaving like this? : : : “Music by Yosep - Time Travel via www.epidemicsound.com”
