Reasons to HIIT 💪🏽 I have completely transitioned to doing more weighted HIIT/Tabata style high flow raining over heavy weight training after doing my research on the benefits of high intensity training. I HIIT 3 days a week and do and strength train with moderate weight training 2 days a week. I can say this routine has significantly improved my performance overall. Reasons to HIIT 👇🏽 1. Increases VO2 Max (max rate of oxygen your body is able to use during exercise) This is essential if you want to increase your endurance and train harder and longer 2. Helps burn fat faster (While@doing high intensity training, your body starts to use up glycogen storage faster and will then tap into fat for fuel source. This will help decrease unnecessary fat storage and increase lean muscle) 3. Increase HDL cholesterol (High-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol is known as the “good” cholesterol because it helps remove other forms of cholesterol from your bloodstream. Increasing HDL will help rid body of excess waste products in your bloodstream) 4. Improves over athletic performance (My fitness goal moving forward is to be in top peak physical condition. I have achieved my body goal and am in the mindset of maintenance. For now do want to increase my cardiovascular health and boost endurance so I can do more physical activities with ease) There are so many benefits to HIIT besides the ones listed. It is also not limited to people who are considered advanced athletic performers. Anyone can incorporate HIIT little by little and all it can do is benefit you for the long run. I am in this fitness game for the long haul. I would love to be in my 80s/90s and running marathons.
