The riding portion of this training session was 15 minutes. These clips are clipped in exact order of the session flow. This horse isn’t mean. He’s learned that escalation controls the situation. Rearing and intentionally flipping over. Vertical bucking. Dropping down. Attempting to disengage through chaos. When a horse discovers that intensity ends the conversation, it becomes their default. Notice something important: – No anger from the rider – No retaliation – Immediate reset after every outburst – Clear timing and release Leadership in moments like this isn’t emotional. It’s consistent. By the end, you’ll see the shift. Not submission. Understanding. We have done extensive groundwork with this horse and I still couldn’t trust him. So I called out @kensleypearce_2, who’s got a great touch with these kind. #horsetraining #realmommoments #horseproblems

Day one with this three year old gelding. He sure is a silly little guy. He was pretty tight and bound up in the beginning but he loosened up and moved out nice by the end. Had to use a britchen on him because he is overweight and my saddle was wanting to slip over his head. But all together he did great and I’m happy with how it went. #coltstarting #horsetraining #firstride #dayone #southernalberta

Riding a horse with no tack is not about controlling the horse through subtle aids, it’s about getting the horse emotionally centered enough that they control themselves #horsetraining #horses #journeyon @kimesranchjeans @weaverequine @100xequine @cryptoaero @equifuse

Before anyone says, “just don’t use rubber bands,” you can still get hung up WITHOUT bands. Too often I see people get hung up and their horses drag them. That is a huge risk of severe injury or worse, so I train ALL my horses to stop when you fall off. Slick here has been the most reactive. He’s a bit sensitive and he takes everything personal, so I had to work more with him until he settled down. But this is a safety feature I train on all my horses. #misfitbarrelracer #fyp #horsetraining #horselife #barrelracing

Here’s what most people get WRONG about training reining horses…It’s not about chasing bigger stops or faster spins. It’s about the small things- patience, trust, foundation and rewarding the try. Get that right, and the big maneuvers take care of themselves in the long run. 👉 Want to learn how? Make the signal clear. If your horse doesn’t stop, reinforce it right away. They need to understand there’s no unrequested forward motion. Keep it simple and be consistent. #AlDunning #ADTack #HorseTraining #Horsemanship #Stop #Horseman #Reining

If I only had 1 session a week to create a better connection with my horse, here’s what I would do: ✅ 20 minutes on the ground A shorter session is FAR more effective than one long session when you focus in on feeling rather than action/movement. ➡️ 10 Minutes connecting the horse’s mind and body together. I work through three ‘zones’ on the horse, his head/shoulders and hindquarters. I don’t care about fully completed actions. I care about how softly I can ask for isolated movement in these areas and my horse offers it. Look for engagement and for your horse to ‘try’ - reward that. That’s where the mind - body connection happens. ➡️ 5 minutes of free movement. In a safe space, allow your horse to move freely n a way that feels good for them. Sometimes running and bucking (when the horse initiates the action through play) is a good thing. Maybe your horse wants to stand and connect. Allowing space for your horse to move his body in a way that feels good and appropriate for his needs is so important. ➡️ 5 minutes following/ mirrored movement I spend 5 minutes focusing on body shifts, weight adjustments and connectedness through movement together. This is so effective in creating a horse who understands that body language = communication and movement can be enjoyed together. My groundwork sessions don’t focus on control… I focus on connection with the horse. This is what creates the magic to transform behaviour. Minnie is the most level headed mare I’ve ever worked with. I don’t think I’m actually this good of a trainer she’s just this good of a horse. Honestly, I probably could have saddled her last week I just got a little busy haha. - - #cowgirl #equestrian #horsetraining #mustang #progress
