Welcome to another #JustAtipTuesday - Today I’m showing you how to eliminate gaps and make your decreases look seamless using the invisible decrease technique. In a standard decrease, where you crochet two stitches together you would: insert hook into first stitch, draw up a loop, then insert hook into second stitch before finishing your decrease. This technique is great when working in rows or with mix of taller stitches. However, when it comes to amigurumi, the standard decrease becomes quite noticeable. Not only that but it also leaves larger gaps allowing the stuffing to show. To avoid this and make your decreases blend with the rest of the stitches, use the invisible decrease method: - Insert hook into front loop of the first stitch, and into front loop of the second stitch (3 loops on hook) yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over and pull through remaining two loops. #theknottyboss #crochetsecrets

Single crochet decrease ⬇️ Recognise the two adjoining sc stitches where you want to make a sc dec. we are calling them sc 1 and sc 2 1. Insert your hook in sc 1, pull up a loop, you have two loops on your hook. Don’t complete your sc as usual. 2. Now, insert your hook into the very next stitch i.e. sc 2, pull up a loop, you now have three loops on your hook. 3. Yarn over, pull through all 3 loops. Your sc dec is ready US terms. This technique is used to reduce/decrease the number of single crochet (sc ) stitches in a row/round. We have basically made one sc in place of two. There are a number of methods to make a sc dec. Today I have shared a basic and beginner friendly method. 🧶 Follow @crochet.chronicles_ #singlecrochet #crochettutorial #crochetforbeginners #crochetbeginner #crochetstitch single crochet decrease tutorial, what is sc decrease, crochet tutorial, crochet basics, crochet for beginners, crochet techniques, crochet beginner tutorial, sc dec tutorial, crochet basics, crochet guide, crochet 101

Happy Just A Tip Tuesday - today we’re talking about clean side edges! There are many different ways to achieve a clean edge working in rows. When crocheting with taller stitches like HDC or DC a Stacked Single Crochet is typically my go-to. It completely eliminates the need for a turning chain, allowing your edges to look nice and straight. Here I’m showing how to stack two SC stitches because I’m working with HDC. With DC or taller stitches you can stack 3 or more SC. Don’t forget, you can find this and other helpful crochet tips in my book Crochet Secrets from The Knotty Boss, available in most major book retailers.
