Welcome to another #JustAtipTuesday - Today I’m showing you how to eliminate gaps and make your decreases look seamless using the invisible decrease technique. In a standard decrease, where you crochet two stitches together you would: insert hook into first stitch, draw up a loop, then insert hook into second stitch before finishing your decrease. This technique is great when working in rows or with mix of taller stitches. However, when it comes to amigurumi, the standard decrease becomes quite noticeable. Not only that but it also leaves larger gaps allowing the stuffing to show. To avoid this and make your decreases blend with the rest of the stitches, use the invisible decrease method: - Insert hook into front loop of the first stitch, and into front loop of the second stitch (3 loops on hook) yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over and pull through remaining two loops. #theknottyboss #crochetsecrets

Learning to decrease your stitches is an important skill to learn. You can do this with all stitches, here I’m showing how to: 🇺🇸 Single Crochet two together (sc2tog) 🇬🇧 Double Crochet two together (dc2tog) What terms do you use? Save this for later 🧶 #crochetstitches #sc2tog #dc2tog

Welcome to another #JustATipTuesday - Today we’re talking invisible sc decrease, but not just any, in the back loops only! If you ever tried working an invisible decrease into back loops then you know how awkward it can be. The angle of the back loops makes it difficult to insert your hook into both stitches and virtually impossible to draw that hook through. In fact, most times I’d just default to a standard decrease and hope it wouldn’t be that visible…. it always was 😢 That was until I learned this simple trick that allows you to work a BLO invisible decrease, with ease! Instead of inserting your hook into 1st then 2nd stitch of the decrease, just reverse the order (see instructions below) It may sound a bit awkward but once you get the hang of it, it makes working a BLO inv-dec so much better! INSTRUCTIONS: Skip the 1st stitch and insert your hook into the back loop of the 2nd stitch in your decrease. Turn your work sideways (as shown) and insert the hook into back loop of the 1st stitch (turning your work sideways will make it easier to see the 1st stitch) then finish as you would a standard single crochet. If you’ve tried this technique before, let me know what you think of it, and if not you should give it a go! #theknottyboss #crochetsecrets #tiptuesday #crochet #tutorial

✨Decreasing stitches, often abbreviated as "Dec" in diagrams, work together with increasing stitches to help shape crochet projects effectively. Do you know how to make a "decrease" in single crochet? 🤔 While crochet increases add stitches, crochet decreases remove stitches. A single crochet decrease is a way to remove a stitch from your work. For example, if you have a row of 10 stitches, making a single crochet decrease will give you a row of 9 stitches. How to decrease: (insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull through) repeat this 2 times, now you should have 3 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through all 3. ⚡️🧶 I’ve gotten asked for tips on crocheting faster. To be honest, I never really know how to answer this question. The speed I crochet at depends on the project and the repetitiveness of it. For example, when I’m crocheting the hexagon cardigan in this video, I’m able to crochet faster because the stitches are the same throughout the project. When I’m working on a big and repetitive project, I’m able to sort of lose myself in the project, resulting in crochet faster. Now, if I were making a more intricate project, I would definitely be crocheting slower, since the accuracy of the pattern matters more. At the end of the day, being a fast crocheter doesn’t make you “better” or more advanced. No mater your crochet speed, it’s important to enjoy the journey your project takes you on! 💭 Are you a fast crocheter? If you have any crochet speed tips, leave them in the comments below! I would love to hear what you guys have to say. . . 🏷️ #crochet #crochetersofinstagram #crocheting #fastcrochet #crochetaddict #crochettips #crochetadvice
