Quick and pretty visible signs you are idolizing your gifts that God gave you. I struggle with this so I understand the balance that is needed and sometimes we need a reality check - 1. You think this is how you get to know or get closer to God. - The gift is used to bring awareness to Jesus, yes but if you think it brings you closer to God, that can be dangerous. It brings you closer to His plan. You still need to be in love with Jesus. Imagine someone stalked you and wrote articles about you and made a whole bunch of claims about the way you think… no matter how much they talk about you and stalk(go to you for a self seeking purpose) they won’t “know you”. Let us be in relationship with God. Be servants and truly love His ways - 2. It replaces time for God - God gave you a bunch of responsibilities and it got busy. That is the essential time you need Jesus. Jesus will never be too busy for you so in that time of juggling your purpose, go back to the one who gave it to you. Jesus gave you your worth but others will see your accolades as your worth. DO NOT fall for this lie and it can come from people with good intentions. Peter thought God’s worth came from being physically on earth. That Jesus needed to be alive in flesh to have His will done but Jesus rebuked that idea when Peter tried to protect Jesus from being detained. Don’t find worth in the gift because you will then spend time with gift more than the gifter - 3. The gift has become an indicator of God’s proximity. - David was a man after God’s heart but he knew God was close when he was a Shepard and as a king. Sin was the only thing that removed God presence so if you see a rut or you just don’t see God. That’s not to say He is far. This is apart of the plan and is for your good. If God is giving you an assignment, you don’t have a right to be unhealthy. God calls us to steward our bodies biblically, not for idolization, but for His glory. The world either obsesses over the body for approval or neglects it in the name of acceptance. But we are called to walk a narrow path. “Let us throw off everything that hinders... and run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” — Hebrews 12:1 If you’re stuck in body idolization, you’re serving yourself and man, not God. But if you’re neglecting your body, you’re hindering the race He’s marked out for you. God calls us to be living, breathing vessels. Not passive. Not obsessed. Submitted. Your body is meant to glorify Him, not by looking a certain way, but by being strong enough to carry what He’s assigned. When you steward your body biblically, you strip off what hinders you. The idolization. The insecurity. The passivity. And you become a woman who can endure and obey. This is the narrow path. Some of us have made God‘s resources an idol - we have put others before the Lord! When you wake up, instead of giving God thanks you are first honoring someone else. If you lift that person up long enough, you will try to become like them but isn’t the goal to be more like Jesus 👀 Truth is, too many voices can create cloudiness, confusion, doubt and they can become so loud that you will be unable to hear God for yourself. So because you can’t hear from him, you run to the person you’ve been watching or you avoid God altogether So you what to get closer & feel bearer to God then you MUST let go of every idol aware and unaware - one thing I’ve learned about idolization is that it will keep your heart filthy and therefore untrustworthy I want to encourage you to put God first again, ask God for a new and fresh wind in this season.
