I love using the diamond method to create repeat patterns on procreate, I feel like it makes things even more seamless! I do this process differently, most tutorials I’ve seen involve drawing a diamond first, this is just what works for me! Hopefully it wasn’t too complicated to understand. These hand drawn dot patterns in Adobe Illustrator are so fun and easy to make! The secret (imo) is to create a dot pattern that isn’t ‘perfect’ and I do this using the Blob Brush tool, making sure the dots aren’t too circular. Another great tip is to create a pattern that feels organic and not too repetitive. Repeat pattern tutorial🌸 🌸Create a 12x12 inch canvas. Turn on the drawing guide and set the 2D grid size to Max. 🌸Create a diamond shape and use it as a template. Fill the shape with the desired elements on a new layer. 🌸Duplicate this layer 4 times and hide the original element layer. 🌸 Drag the 4 layers to 4 corners or quadrants. Once done, unhide the original layer 🌸 That’s it. Now you have your repeating pattern ready! Let’s make a seamless pattern! 🍓🫐✨ Check out @vellydraw and @riyadesigns_ for inspiration🫶 I followed their tutorials and they made it simple (thank you!!) Arrange four squares - top: 1,2 / bottom: 3,4. Start drawing! Swap the top row and then swap the bottom row. So now it’s - top: 2,1 / bottom: 3,4. Continue making your pattern. Last, swap the squares in the left column. And swap the squares in the right column. Now it’s top: 4,3 / bottom: 2,1. Complete your pattern!
