Having rescued a few Indian rock pythons in urban settings, seeing one in its natural habitat was an entirely different experience. At Ajgar Dadar, a renowned spot in Mandla district, Madhya Pradesh, known for these incredible serpents, I had the privilege of observing these majestic serpents where they truly belong. This place is home to many pythons, and during winter, sightings are quite common as they bask in the sunlight to regulate their body temperature. Watching a python soak up the sun in its natural environment was awe-inspiring and a gentle reminder of how vital it is to protect these habitats.
