By age 10, Marilyn Vos Savant had memorized entire books and read all 24 volumes of Encyclopedia Britannica. But despite her genius-level intellect, no one paid much attention to her, mostly because she was a girl. She left Washington University after two years to help run her parents’ business. In 1985, Guinness listed her as the “Highest IQ” with a score of 228. Magazine covers and Letterman appearances gave her sudden fame, but that fame turned into a nightmare over one question. At Parade Magazine, she started her “Ask Marilyn” column. In September 1990, she faced the Monty Hall Problem. Three doors. One has a car, two have goats. You pick a door. The host reveals a goat behind another door. Should you switch? Her answer: yes, you should switch. The backlash was vicious. Over 10,000 letters came in, nearly 1,000 from PhDs. Ninety percent called her wrong. “You are the goat.” “You blew it big.” “Maybe women look at math differently than men.” But the math was unforgiving. Your first pick has a 1 in 3 chance of being the car. The other two doors hold 2 in 3 odds. When the host eliminates a goat, the full 2 in 3 shifts to the last unopened door. Switching wins two-thirds of the time. MIT simulations proved it. MythBusters tested it. Academics eventually admitted she was right, but the damage lingered. The real revelation wasn’t math; it was psychology. People reset probabilities instead of grasping conditional probability. They assumed 50/50 when it was never even. Marilyn blamed schools for producing passive learners. Even PhDs fell victim to institutional thinking over logic. Having the highest IQ meant being intellectually alone. She called it a blessing and understood isolation comes with capability. The Monty Hall problem revealed how education creates confident ignorance. Credentials don’t guarantee reasoning; they just give authority to be wrong louder. True intelligence isn’t about right answers. It’s about questioning assumptions everyone else accepts without thinking. Follow @scalewithbasem to learn more about how to build Instagram theme pages like this one.

The links will be to download pages on Anna’s Archive which is one of biggest and best free ebook/pdf sites on the internet. There will be a short countdown clock before the download link generates, 20 seconds. Download these books and read them - you won’t be sorry! Here’s why you absolutely ought to be reading psychology books, even if you’re not that big of a reader: 🧠 Because learning about the mind is not only intrinsically interesting and eye opening, its also intrinsically beneficial. I haven’t read many of the popular self help books, so I can’t pretend to know much about them. For me, psychology was without a doubt the field that most inspired and invigorated my curiosity. Psychology is incredibly stimulating to the intellect and to someone’s sense of curiosity and I think its such a powerful way of providing one’s self with the substance for growth. I think that’s the point of the popular self help books - is to try to benefit a person and expand their awareness in a positive way. In my experience, its these books particularly revolving around Depth Psychology that provide me the most stimulation, insight, and benefit. But nevertheless, thinking can only go so far. Action is what counts even more. And truthfully, I feel myself to be in a situation of severe rut. Anybody else feel that way? Seems like something is going around these days. There’s a lot to be weighed down by. So perhaps its strange, but I thought id share some of the ways Im trying to take action to better my mind and my spirit.
