Two months before he was appointed as India's National Security Advisor under the first Narendra Modi administration in 2014, Ajit Doval spoke at an event titled 'The Challenge of Global Terrorism' at the Australia India Institute in Melbourne. Following his speech, Doval interacted with the audience in a Q&A session, acknowledging the concerns of some present in the audience that India may face challenges in combatting cross-border terrorism while keeping the Indian Muslim community's safety and sensitivities in mind. In response, Doval staunchly defended the Indian Muslim community, noting that they are also targets of terror attacks much like other communities in India. "Let me tell you one thing: the casualties of Islamic terror have been Muslims 90%. And 10% non-Muslims, and they are aware of it. Do you know...the basis on which the [anti-terrorism] security has been provided? It is all top Indian Islamic leaders...who are in the target list of the Indian Mujahideen." The NSA added that Indian Muslims have always stood with the country in its fight against all forms of terrorism, and even historically, against colonial British rule, rejecting the idea that the community should be victimized or manipulated for political purposes when it comes to the issue of cross-border and domestic terrorism. "We have got to use them for the national purpose. They are more nationalist than anybody else. It is only when you use them for the political purpose, they say that 'well, we made you a king and what have you given us in return?'" What’s the point of creating when many don't care who created the art but only care that it can be consumed for their entertainment? And I've come to the conclusion that I CARE! I care a lot about my ideas. I care a lot about the community that's been built because of MY art. I care a lot about how MY art is interpreted and interacted with. I care a lot that MY art has made ppl's day, inspired them to create, allowed them to smile while sad, to think outside the box, etc. I care a lot that MY art has made so many different people feel different things. Joy, sadness, disgust, cringe, happiness, hopefulness, pride, and so many other emotions. I care that MY art has the ability to do that for ppl. I CARE! And because I care so much, I will do everything in my power to stand up for my art that can't speak for itself. To stand up for other artists and creators who have their had work insulted by thieves, plagiarzers, and AI slop feeders. What's the point? The point is that I am a creator who will continue to create no matter what! So take heart my fellow creatives, this may be something that comes with the territory as you grow...but that doesn't mean we have to simply sit back and take it because "it's not that deep". When you sign up for an enclosure inspection, you don’t really expect your “co-workers” to turn it into a game of tag the car 🦁🚙💨 Our pride clearly thought we needed some extra excitement today and decided it was playtime. A few heart-stopping moments later (when they got VERY close to the vehicle 👀), we were reminded just how powerful and fast these big cats are. ⚠️ Important note: Everyone was perfectly safe inside the car. Lions at Felidae are never interacted with outside their enclosures – we respect their space and natural instincts. But moments like these show just why lions are called apex predators. Their speed, agility, and playful (but serious) chase drive is exactly what helps them survive in the wild.
