"PDA" by Interpol is from their debut studio album "Turn On the Bright Lights" (2002) .Like many Interpol songs, the title doesn't appear in the lyric. The song is about a breakup, with the singer appearing conflicted between love and hated for his ex. The lyrics were written by Paul Banks, the lead singer of Interpol. "PDA" is an initialism that stands for "Public Display of Affection," which could relate to his anger when he sees her with another guy. It is about a relationship gone sour. Between the releases of the Interpol EP and Turn on the Bright Lights, Interpol released “PDA” as a promo single along with a music video, directed by Christopher Mills. The song was nominated for an MTV2 award in 2003. From Pitchfork: “We recorded “PDA” when we were coming up on finishing the record, and [Paul] was like, “Fxxx that song.
