So what’s the scoop? 🍨🍪 IT’S IT Cappuccino (Moms 10/10) 🍨🍪 IT’S IT Cappuccino (Erin 12/10) 🍨🍪 IT’S IT Mint (Pops 10/10) If you aren’t familiar with an IT’S IT, it is ice cream sandwiched between 2 oatmeal cookies, then all dipped in chocolate. Fun fact: IT’S IT was created in San Francisco back in 1928 and have been a fan favorite ever since. Going on 96 years! They have sooo many fun flavors available here, I had no idea some of them even existed outside the classic vanilla! They were sold out of pumpkin, otherwise that’s what I would have tried! It’s-It ice cream sandwiches: they’re easy to eat and easy to love, but are they easy to make? Invented in San Francisco in 1928 by Playland amusement park founder George Whitney, an It’s-It is a scoop of ice cream sandwiched by two oatmeal cookies and then dipped in chocolate. Watch as KQED Food’s Josh Decolongon (@sommeligay) tries to recreate the legendary treat at home. While a real It’s-It only comes in vanilla, chocolate, mint, cappuccino, strawberry, and pumpkin, Josh makes his version with another Bay Area-originated ice cream flavor: rocky road! That’s right — rocky road was invented by William Dreyer in Oakland to lift people’s spirits during the Great Depression. This homemade It’s-It might be the most Bay Area dessert ever. 🍪🍨🍪
