Rate your jumping technique 1-10! Did a lot of technique work with @dj_arz. When it comes to technique training, if you've been doing a movement pattern for the majority of your life, it's going to be difficult to engrain a new pattern. Or at least, you may have the tendency to go back to the original pattern. Patience and consistency is key! If we think about a sled going down a snow hill, its going to create a path. The more times we go over this path, the deeper the grooves get and the more likely it is we will go down the same path everytime. This is consistency. But if we go off slightly to the right or left, it creates deviations in the path. This can be good but sometimes bad. Good in the sense that you have an option stemmed off the original pattern. Groove that too. Bad in the sense that if you don't groove either, and keep creating new ones without deepening the grooves, neither will stick. This is inconsistency. When we've been doing the same thing over and over and want to learn a different way to do it, the best thing to do is to just create a new path. Groove that pattern. For jumping, some athletes can see results right away, some might notice an initial decrease. Its important to trust the process and know that having optimal technique can increase your potential down the road to improve performance. Aka- will eventually lead to greater gains. In this case, the athlete was used to standing jump mechanics, and was running up but was using his arms as he would in the standing jump. This takes too much time. When we can time the forward armswing with the block step, lower on the penultimate, then from there its all upward and explosive off the ground, the results can be much better. Still lots to work on here but great start and with consistency, it will get there! Technique for jumping matters more than you might think. It is all in the physics, so what is discussed in this video is not cap. 1. Dont ride the wave Keep your hips at one level and don't raise them before taking off. 2. Don't chest dive This will have you leaning too much forward and also jumping forward rather than up. 3. Not having a block foot Have a block foot changes the angle of your force to up. If you last foot is straight forward, your jump will also be forward and less powerful. Now you some key techniques to jumping higher. More ways to jump higher are this: Strength Training: In order to jump higher you must obviously have stronger legs to generate more force taking off. You can train this by doing strength exercises like squats or power cleans. Watch other videos on this account to see what you can do and how much. Or comment ‘’Jump’’ so we can help you personally. Plyometric Training: You must also train your tendons if you want to be more elastic in your jump. Exercises like pogo jumps will do this well. Other plyometric exercises like split squat jumps train your legs to generate lots of force in a short time, explosiveness this is called. Comment ‘’Plyo’’ for a free training program on this. Nutrition: In order to be able to keep training you must recover well between your sessions. Nutrition is how you can fuel and recover your body internally to make your muscles and joints actually stronger. Most athletes do not watch what they eat and end up getting injured by not taking care of their body. Comment ‘’Nutrition’’ if you are interested in making this improvement. Sleep: Lastly, sleep is super important for recovery as well. It is THE time where your body and your muscle fibers recover so you can use them the next day again. Be sure to get 8+ hours of sleep every day to maximize your health. Last but not least: Stay Consistent. All of these points are useless if you only do them once. Make a plan and follow that one with little exceptions. Only then will you actually reach your goals. Follow for more and keep improving! #Volleyball #jumptraining #jumping #technique #improving
