This is how I built my “capsule” kitchen to have meal time prep take minutes! I have been keeping these 4 items in stock at all times, and it makes dinner and meal prep so much easier! The secret to not being a slave to the kitchen but still eating amazing wholesome delicious meals is to curate your kitchen like you would your wardrobe! Start with keeping these basics in stock at all times and accessorize with the rest! I’ll spend one hour per week to cut, chop, freeze, and butcher all my staples so that throughout the week I spend no more than 30 minutes total on a dinner for my family of 5. And to be hinder many nights it’s really like 15-20 minutes. I cannot recommend this way of running your kitchen more!! This is how I simplify daily cooking. No more repeating the same prep. 🤍 Aromatics are used in almost every dish, so I choose to prep ahead. By freezing aromatics, you can extend their shelf life.😊 Wash & dry garlic & shallots thoroughly, blend to your preferred texture, the pour into the cube container ( Silicone material makes it easy to pop the aromatics out ):) then gently press it down with spatula, the lid is airtight, so the fridge won’t smell like garlics, you can do this with green onions too. No cube container? A ziplock bag works just fine, spread it flat then score lines with spatula, then freeze it. Once frozen, break into portions, stir it in a container, put it straight into a hot pan with oil, no need to thaw. Most home cooks work WAY TO HARD. You’re not tired of cooking - you’re tired of doing the SLOW STUFF every single night. Chopping veg every day, cleaning boards, crying over slicing onion like it’s a ritual… Chefs don’t do that. We prep in advance the components that ‘keep well’ and build on the night of service. I spend 20 minutes on a Sunday washing, slicing, and marinating a few basics. After that, dinner is just: grab a protein toss a handful of veg add a sauce or topping ...DONE! Same components - totally different meals. Quick, simple, no burnout.
