#Knit Tee Pattern

Congratulations @ohwhata.knit on the release of their #superbasictee knitting pattern! I had the pleasure of test knitting for Tatjana, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the final garment. The shape and size is perfect for a, well, super basic tee, and as super basic tees goes, this one is so versatile. I used 6.5 skeins (~1330m) of Tynd kindly gifted from @woolfolk_yarn — such a lovely, lofty merino. Black yarn might look just like black yarn, but I gasped when I received it! My bust measures 82cm, and the pattern measurements put me in a “Small”. My final tee has 40cm of positive ease. Mods: In the sleeves, I did one fewer set of decreases because I have such short arms. For the body, I knit 5 fewer rows than stated in the pattern.

Same pattern, three completely different results I knit the Lakes Tee by @ozetta three times — just changing the yarn each time. Version 1: Pinta by @pascuali_official — a dream to knit! A luxurious blend of 60% merino, 20% silk, 20% ramie that gave the tee a soft sheen and perfect drape. Version 2: Puno Due by @lanagrossa — sadly, a disappointment. Even though it was the same dye lot, the yarn had huge color differences that created visible striping. Version 3: Alpaca by @dropsdesign — a pleasant surprise! Affordable, soft, and with vibrant colors that made the striped long-sleeve version pop. It’s amazing how much the yarn choice can transform the same pattern! You could pull this out 10 years from now and it’d still feel chic. I used Knitting for Olive Pure Silk in Copper, which is one of my all-time favorite colors. It’s not your typical shade, but it goes with everything and gives such an elegant, polished look. I’ve been in a bit of a knitting slump lately, so this took me two weeks to finish — but both the yarn and the design made it so worth it. Absolutely thrilled with how it turned out. I don’t want my knits to look either handmade or cheap, even if they are in fact handmade and cheap 👍 No yarn snobbery here! Well aware that synthetic fibres have their issues environmentally BUT I’m still wearing acrylic sweaters knit in the 80s that aren’t showing a single sign of wear (and certainly would if they were wool). Each have their merits, and budget, washability and durability have their place.
