Step 1 in learning how to knit! Let me show you step by step how to cast on for knitting - save this video to come back to it when you’re ready!! Casting on gets the stitches onto your knitting needles so you can start actually knitting and purling (we will get to these later in my How to Knit for Beginners series) If youd like to see anything slower or if I can help troubleshoot, im happy to answer any knitting questions! #knittinghelp #howtoknit #beginnerknitter #knittingtutorial #knittutorial #knitknitknit #newtoknitting #howtostartknitting #knittingnewbie

learn how to knit in under 3 min🥰🧶 (this is your sign to start knitting girly!!) knitting is my favorite little granny hobby! I learned when I was 8 years old and ever since I’ve knit all kinds of christmas gifts for my loved ones each year. I find it to be SO therapeutic to do something with my hands when I’m watching tv or relaxing, instead of reaching for my phone🤍 hope you enjoy!! #knitting #knittingtutorial #knittingforbeginners #crafting #craftygirl #knittinginspo

Tips for knitting colorwork⬇️ 1) Don’t let your stitches bunch up on your needles. Right before you change colors, spread the stitches out that are on your needles. This will help create even floats! 2) Color dominance does make a difference to the stitch definition. Make sure that your main color floats pass over the top of the contrast color floats. To help keep track, knit in English style for the main color and continental style for the contrast color. 3) Swatch and block before starting the project. Your tension will likely differ quite a bit from your usual tension when knitting colorwork so make sure to check your gauge. This will also allow you to figure out if the colors will bleed at all. It’s much better to find out from a swatch than a sweater. Update // The Darling Sweater pattern is out now! If you’re teaching yourself to knit, choosing a sweater for your first project is unrealistic…and it will probably make you want to give up quicker. Do this first: 1) Knit a bunch of short rows in stockinnete. This will make you confident with knitting and purling, and switching back and forth between the two. 2) Try a different stitch. Once you feel confident with stockinette, practicing a different stitch will build your confidence that you can learn new techniques! 3) Try a challenging pattern like ribbing! You don’t have to finish the full project, just learn how to do a technique that you’ll need to know for your first garment (hat, sweater, bag, etc). Your first few attempts will probably have a lot of mistakes and that’s fineee! The more confidence you gain while practicing, the better your first real project is going to be <3 #knitting #beginnerknitter #knitter

I was genuinely scared of knitting with two colors. It just looked… complicated. Like something “real” knitters could do - not me. The first time I tried, I failed. My tension was off, it felt messy, and I convinced myself that colorwork just wasn’t for me. But the truth is - it wasn’t me. It was the way I was trying to learn it. That’s exactly why Elisabeth and I created the Easy Colour Mix Sweater. We wanted other knitters to experience success the first time they knit with two colors. Not frustration. Not confusion. Not giving up halfway through. So we designed a sweater that actually teaches you how to knit with two colors - with beginner-friendly techniques and video guidance built right into the pattern, so you’re never left guessing. Because learning something new in knitting shouldn’t feel overwhelming. It should feel empowering. And yes - you absolutely can do this 🧶 comment “mix” to get the pattern link sent #knit #strik #colorwork #knittersgonnaknit

I’ll start! Don’t worry about holding yarn in both hands right away! Focus on tension by dropping the strand you’re not using and stick to your usual knitting style. I’ve made plenty of sweaters this way and eventually transitioned to holding one strand in each hand, but there’s no rush to learn a new knitting method just to do stranded colourwork. The key is to stretch out the stitches you’ve just knit before switching colours. This keeps the float at the back loose enough for stretch! 🧶✨ Hope that was helpful! And I hope there will be many more great tips in the comments! Music from #Uppbeat, https://uppbeat.io/t/justin-lee/wanderlust. License code: CNZVVAMAKM9XV5LZ

I have a thing for knitting with the same colour in different shades. Sue me. Thought I’d share another way of casting on with 2 colours for those that prefer the long tail cast on method. Happy knitting!

🇬🇧 Our Easy Breezy Cardigan is just around the corner – and we dare say it’s the perfect spring and summer knit! It’s airy, soft, and so much fun to knit 🫶 Plus, it grows quickly on large needles and with those long stitches. In the video, you can see how to knit row 3 of the pattern, and the remaining two rows are explained below – the pattern is surprisingly simple (and pretty addictive). 🧵 Here’s how the pattern works: Row 1: Slip the yarn overs from the previous row and work the stitches in a stockinette stitch Row 2: Work all stitches in a stockinette stitch Row 3: Repeat the following: Knit one stitch - make a double yarn over The yarn in the video is Alpaca Blaze in color “20” and Friends Extra Fine Merino in color “02”.
