𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐈 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐧🇰🇷📚📝 Resources & Tips 🌷𝐕𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐲 🌷 Vocabulary is so important!! No matter how many grammar structures you learn, if you don’t have sufficient vocabulary, it will be hard to understand what you read. For flashcards I use 2 apps: 𝐀𝐍𝐊𝐈 and 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐓 If you are a beginner I recommend the app 𝐘𝐔𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐊 (it’s a better version of Duolingo👀) 🌾 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫 🌾 Grammar is also very important in Korean.. and there is lots of grammar🥲 I mainly use the YouTube channel 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍 𝐅𝐋𝐘 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 But I also like @hellokorean1009 and @korean.by.tofu YouTube channels. For apps I use 𝐊𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑 If you’d like to study with a course you can try @king.sejong.institute website and @quick_korean (both are free) 🌻 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 🌻 Graded Readers which are stories written for language learners. There are many channels on YouTube and also on instagram. My favorite app for that is 두루책방 which is actually meant for Korean kids so it’s fully in Korean. Also watching K-Dramas with dual subtitles and watching native content on YouTube :) If you like Korean songs you can look at the lyrics and study with them, although I don’t find it very helpful it’s very fun🤭 Podcasts! I currently listen to @choisusu_korean it’s honestly perfect 🤩 it’s also on YouTube with subs! 🪻𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬🪻 1. Learn the Hangul first and try to not use romanization at all!😮 2. Try to have fun!🤭 Learning a language can be a tedious process but if you have motivation and the right mind set you are on the right track! 3. Don’t force yourself too much!!🙏🙏 When it comes to watching native content whether that be dramas or YT videos. Don’t force yourself to make it a study opportunity. If you don’t feel like studying and you simply want to watch an episode of a drama, do it and don’t feel bad for not studying and “wasting time”‼️ Honestly it will just make you hate studying🥲 (You can still have dual subtitles on though) 4. Google translator is not a really good tool..😕❌ Instead, I recommend using Papago and Naver Dictionary🥰💚 2️⃣ STORIES Everyone loves stories.🥰 There’s a great example from 90 Day Korean: 책상 (chaeksang) means “desk”. Imagine there’s a student named Sang. He wants his homework to be always 100% correct. So he goes back to check (책 - chaek) it.😁 Sang checks his homework at his “책상” (chaeksang) 3️⃣ HANGUL It’s very important to learn Hangul (Korean alphabet) and pronunciation right at the beginning, so you should drop the romanization as quickly as possible. 4️⃣ CULTURE Understanding Korean culture is VERY important. (Especially if you want to study or work in Korea). In most languages, there is not such a big social (and language) hierarchy. If you think it’s not important to differentiate all the levels of politeness when speaking to someone and you use casual Korean when speaking to elders, you may sound very rude. Or on the other hand, if you ONLY use the highest possible level of politeness no matter who you’re speaking with, you may sound unnatural and stiff. 5️⃣ GRAMMAR Grammar is important in every language. Without learning it, you can’t really communicate.
