Such a joy to see lambing season begin at the farm yesterday, with the arrival of these sweet Lleyn and Kerry Hill triplets 🐑🌱 It’s a moment we look forward to at @daylesfordfarm every spring - a true sign of new beginnings, hope and life returning to our landscape. All are doing well so far and our dedicated lambing team will be working around the clock to ensure all our new arrivals are safely delivered. My favourite day of the year is coming up and every year I feel a little conflicted about sharing it all. I love telling people about réttir and explaining our traditions. It’s a very important day in our community, it’s a day of work but it’s also a social day. Everyone from our farming community is there, old friends, family, people who have moved away… people you only meet at réttir. And while I love sharing everything about réttir, it’s not a tourist event, it’s not a bucket list tick. I don’t want it to become more crowded than it already is. I don’t want anyone advertise it as a must visit thing. It’s not. The most important is of course the wellbeing of the sheep and having many people who don’t know how to handle sheep isn’t good. But I also do understand that people want to see it, specially farmers from other countries. So if you do visit réttir, just try to blend in and enjoy the day. I hope I don’t come across as rude and I’d love to hear your thoughts.
