Easy Easter DIY! SAVE this post to recreate the look! I wanted to find a way to upcycle our old plastic eggs so that I could use them as decor for Easter! I hot glued them onto some ribbon so that I could attach them to this branch clipping but these would also be beautiful simply displayed in a large bowl or scattered throughout a tablescape! To make the eggs, I spray painted them with a primer to help the colorful paint stick. Then, I mixed baking soda with basic acrylic paint until I achieved the colors I was wanting. I painted this mixture onto the eggs and then dusted with an additional layer of baking soda to add more texture and interest. Let them dry and then use them to decorate however you’d like! We went to our local gardening store today to get some mulch & saw this mound of plastic eggs piled out front after their Easter egg hunt this morning. I can only assume this will all be going into the landfill. & next year, they will purchase MORE plastic egg garbage to simply throw away after a single use. Honestly, I hope I’m wrong. This plastic will exist on planet earth FOREVER. It will NEVER completely decompose. Even when it breaks down, it will break down into microplastics that persist in the environment indefinitely, contaminating our earth &, in turn, us.
