Let me reiterate - a layoff is a trauma, and deserves to be treated and respected like one!! In the event that this happens to you, these 3 steps will help you move forward productively, while making sure you are self-supported and cared for. #layoff #whattodoafteralayoff #lostmyjob #jobsearch #careeradvice #findajob #jobmarket2025

I got laid off yesterday. Not gonna lie, it’s a punch in the gut and I’m not exactly feeling on top of the world. But I really wanted to share this with you all because you’re like I really have built a great community of friends on here. Honestly, having this community is what’s keeping me going right now. Even on a tough day like today, knowing I have you guys makes it a little easier to pick myself up. So thank you for being here and for giving me a reason to still show up and create. I’m going to have a bit more time on my hands, so I’d love to hear what kind of content you want to see…book recs, anything you’ve enjoyed from me before, or new ideas. I’m open to all of it as I figure out my next steps. Thanks for sticking with me through the ups and downs. We’re in this together. -A 🖤 #LaidOff #BookstagramCommunity #bookishhumor #romantasybooks #BookCommunity layoff, book community support, new chapter, reader life update, content creator journey

I got laid off from Google recently and I don’t know what to do or how to feel. Friends have told me to take some time to process but I feel like I don’t have time to process. I need to find another job, figure out health insurance, layoff logistics, interview prep, fix my resume, move back in with my parents?? and like a million other things. I see a lot of people online saying that getting laid off was the best thing that has happened to them but that’s not the case for 99% of people. If you’re laid off with 500k in savings, a booming social media, partner/parents to take care of you, a side hustle that’s making you money etc, then sure, maybe you can bet on yourself and take some time to process but most people can’t. Now I know I am in a fortunate place and do have some savings from working in tech for 3 years but as an only child from an immigrant family who is trying to support and retire his parents, I feel an immense pressure to find another job as quickly as I can. I’m worried, anxious, scared, shocked, and feeling a bunch of other emotions but I can’t dwell on it. The work needs doing and I need to grind because time is ticking. In an era of big tech layoffs, I hope to share what life is like after layoffs and document my job search process here to show what it actually looks like after getting laid off and NOT going all in on myself and end up homeless. note: if you know me/my family personally, please don’t tell my parents 😅😅 #techlayoffs #layoffs #laidoff

Two months ago I was laid off from my software developer job. I could find another one. Stable. Six figures. Safe. But the thought of returning to a 9–5 and going through the technical interviews makes me anxious. I just have no desire to write code. I’m feel very privileged to have severance and savings giving me a small runway to figure things out for a bit. Not everyone gets that, and I don’t take it lightly. Right now I’m doing UGC work, freelance editing, and building my own content. Starting from scratch at 43 years old and a mom of 2. It’s scary. It’s exciting. It’s uncertain. But this time, I’m not rebuilding someone else’s dream. I’m betting on myself to build my own empire. #techlayoffs #laidoff #unemployment

Laid off?😩 Do this immediately! Remember, getting laid off ≠ getting fired (!!) Getting “laid off” means the company made a mistake and needs to reduce headcount. It’s not personal. But it can certainly feel personal, I know. Hopefully you never need this video!!! 🫶🏼 But in case you find yourself in this situation… here you go. And I know this may sound VERY odd to hear — but the amount of people who have told me that getting laid off was one of the *best* things to happen to them… is not zero! Maybe this can be the beginning of a brilliant new chapter. You got this 👏 #layoff #careeradvice #laidoff #hiring

I feel so much better now that I can finally share this 😅😅 This was unexpected 😅😅 My company fired me on June 29, 2023. I’ve been unemployed for about 7 months, but I start my new job this week!! I will be working as a data scientist for a small company on a government contract. I am SUPER excited about this because it is basically 100% remote, and only requires me to go into DC a few times a year for meetings :) The company is amazing, and the work seems super interesting. I was able to spend time searching for a job I actually wanted, because I had the emergency fund to hold me over. If I didn’t, I would have been forced to take a job that was 100% in office, and I would’ve hated my life. In a way, money can buy happiness. I will be rebuilding my emergency fund. the timing of this was almost comical i poured my heart into this startup for the last 9 months and had just accepted a leadership role about a month before this news. definitely not the plot twist i saw coming. candidly… this second time i’ve ever been laid off from a job. the first time was when i was 22. i had just moved to san diego & took a job stocking milk in the back of a grocery store to pay the bills. after a week of training me, my manager pulled me aside, handed me a paycheck, and very lovingly told me he could tell i hated stocking milk lol and that he i was meant to follow my heart and find something in alignment not just something that pays bills. not long after, i turned around and fulfilled my dream of becoming a career firefighter and now this! the only reason this moment exists on video is because i had just finished recording a zoom sales call for training and closed the deal right before answering this call with my chief of ops incredible timing. honestly, i’m at peace about it. sometimes the universe makes the decision for you and clears the path when it’s time to move on. whatever’s next is going to be incredible & aligned with me and my gifts. bc the universe is rigged in my favor. onward. ✨ #fyp #layoff #laidoff #unemployment #mindset

I got laid off 9 months ago, and here’s how life is going 🫣 Full Q&A on YouTube!! (Sorry meant to post this earlier, but life’s been kooky lately. YouTube saw it first!!) For the new friends here - I worked at Discord as a product manager. I was the product lead for Community Engagement and built Forum Channels. Then I joined the Creator Revenue team and launched Server Shop (where you can sell digital products in your server). I loved my time there, but also had the most pivotal year of my life after. I still keep in touch with my Discord colleagues 🫶 lots of love for them! I’m giving myself this year as a gap year to pursue all the creative things, but I sincerely have no idea what’s to come after. For those who’ve watched my journey, I’d love to hear your 2c!! with love, chlo #techlayoffs #layoffs #laidoff

Anyone else feel like they “aged out” of their former ambition? 🙋 I spent my 20s collecting gold stars, promotions, titles, and the whole “look how far I’ve come” vibe. Then somewhere in my late 30s, I woke up and realized… I didn’t want any of it anymore. For a while, I thought something was wrong with me. Like I’d broken the part of myself that used to care. But here’s what I know now: It wasn’t burnout. It was outgrowing a version of success that no longer felt like mine. The ambition didn’t disappear. It just finally found something worth pointing at. 🤍 #careerpivot #millennial #entrepreneur #startingover #laidoff
