Everyone’s got an opinion on topdressing… here’s mine 👇🏼 🏝️ Sand - best for levelling, drainage, and that low cut finish. 🌱 Soil mix - adds organics, great for patchy or thin lawns needing recovery. ♻️ Compost blend - boosts microbial life and soil health, not ideal for levelling but brilliant for renovation recovery. STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL ⬇️ 1. Map & Dig Mark out the pathway area and dig down about 4 inches (or deeper if your pavers are thick). Remove grass, roots, and loose soil. 2. Weed Barrier Lay down landscape fabric/weed barrier across the entire dug-out space. This helps prevent weeds from growing up through your pavers. 3. Base Layer – Gravel Spread a layer of compaction gravel evenly over the weed barrier. 4. Water & Compact Lightly spray the gravel with water to help it settle, then use a hand tamper (or plate compactor if available) to compact it until it’s solid and level. 5. Bedding Layer – Sand Spread a layer of paver sand over the compacted gravel. 6. Screed the Sand Lay two PVC pipes parallel across the sand. Drag a 2x4 board across the top to screed the sand, creating a smooth, level surface for the pavers. Remove the pipes and fill in the grooves with sand. 7. Lay the Pavers Place your 20x20 pavers directly on the sand. Check each one with a level to keep them even, and make sure your rows stay straight. Tap gently with a rubber mallet if needed. 8. Install Edging Secure plastic landscape edging along both sides of the pathway. Nail or stake it into the ground to keep the pavers in place. 9. Add Brick Border (Optional) Lay bricks along the inside of the edging for a finished border. Use your level and mallet to make sure they’re flush and even. 10. Fill with Decorative Stone Spread marble chips (or your choice of decorative stone) between the pavers and border. Be sure to shake out only the rock—avoid dumping in dust from the bottom of the bag. 11. Seal Pavers Spray the pavers with BDC Brands DOMINATOR paver Sealer. Apply 2–3 coats, letting each dry.  12. Lock it in Spray the stones with BDC Brands. Apply 2–3 coats, letting each dry. This helps keep the rocks in place. 13. Cure & Enjoy Allow the pathway to dry and cure for 24–48 hours before walking on it. ✅ Done!
