🤔 Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be treated like a professional athlete? . To be treated like a professional athlete, you need an excellent physical therapist with the highest-quality biomechanical analysis equipment. Nothing else will do. . How does Elise’s countermovement jump look? Pretty symmetrical? If we look at the data generated from Premier Physical Therapy’s force plates, she has an 11% left vs right asymmetry at takeoff (jumping) and 10.9% asymmetry upon landing. Did your naked eye and/or slo-mo camera catch that? 🤔 . The data are indisputable. In Elise’s case, using the rest of the data from her thorough evaluation, the answer is eccentric loading exercises to engage the hips. . If we re-test the movement and look at her post-treatment countermovement jump, the takeoff asymmetry has reduced 36% and landing asymmetry has reduced 61%! . And THAT, folks, is how the professional athletes get treated: by treating the cause of the dysfunction!! 🥳 . #premierpt #premierphysicaltherapy #premierptnc #drphilwelsh #huntersville charlotte physicaltherapy physicaltherapist professionalathlete rehabilitation reconditioning charlottefc soccer football futbol basketball onlythebest fixthecause athletictraining sportsmedicine running marathon halfmarathon trailrunning 5k hardcore progress

Proper exposure and progression in plyometrics is an important component of getting an athlete back to their sport⚽️🏀⚾️ Before an individual is taught to jump, cut, and change direction, they must first master how to decelerate, control descent, and land adequately. It is imperative that athletes learn how to eccentrically control through different movement patterns, both on double and single leg. Here, Emily shares a few introductory movements she likes to use to teach an athlete how to “pump the brakes.” There are a plethora of drills that focus on the components of deceleration and once an athlete is ready, it’s time to jump!😆 #physicaltherapy #rocphysicaltherapy #sportstherapy #orthopedic #exercise

You ask I answer! Here is a quick 30 minute plyometric routine you can do 1x per week to maintain healthy and elastic TENDONS! Here’s to a greater pursuit of TRUTH ! 🧪👊 @mapofatgcoaches has been the GO TO source of mine for increasing my knowledge of the adaptive potential of the human body. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I believe any aspiring fitness/healthcare professional ought to strive for *AT LEAST* their L1 certification — Shoot them a DM to get started! 👊

In both rehab and training, I want to make sure my exercise selection matches the goals of what adaptations we are chasing. These two exercises look very similar but when performed correctly are meant for different goals. The depth jump is more muscularly driven and can be used for an athlete in rehab looking to improve concentric force after landing. The drop jump is more tendon driven and can be used for an athlete in rehab looking to improve elastic force after landing. Both great exercises that can be used based on what the patient or athlete needs. #movementismedicine

1. Rehydrating your connective tissue through rebounding and rhythmic jumping is essential for maintaining high-level fascial elasticity and joint health. 2. Performing multi-directional lateral lunges targets the lateral fascial lines, significantly improving your functional mobility and side-to-side stability. 3. Incorporating speed jump rope drills into your routine builds the tendon stiffness required for a snappy, reactive, and athletic gait. 4. Deep foam rolling and targeted self-massage act as a mechanical flush to rehydrate dry tissues and accelerate your post-workout recovery. 5. Mastering dynamic mobility exercises like the Cat-Cow ensures your spine maintains the fluid, wave-like motion necessary for total-body coordination. #injuryprevention #fascial #explosiveness #training #trending
