All our efforts combined really make the difference🙏 📍Movie Road, Lone Pine, CA ➡️A few things to know: 🛣️Movie Road is a dirt road, but it doesn’t have any real obstacles that would require 4WD and can be done in a sedan. 🎥More than 400 movies were filmed here, which is what makes this road so famous. 📸The drive offers incredible views of the Alabama Hills and the Sierra Nevada and is one of the top photo locations in the area. Arrive early or late if you would like to get photos without other vehicles in it. 🚗If you have a 4x4, you can explore other roads you can take from Movie Road. We visited the Mt. Whitney Restaurant in Lone Pine CA. It’s another family owned restaurant that I’ve been visiting since I was a kid. We got the appetizer combo and two of the burgers. Did you know Big Pine Lakes has more than just the popular 3 turquoise alpine lakes? In fact, there’s a whole other trail that leads to this gem from the same trailhead🩵 Big Pine Creek North Fork goes to the seven lakes (first three being the most popular) and Big Pine Creek South Fork leads to Finger Lake. A permit is required to camp at all of these lakes in Inyo National Forest. Skip the overcrowded Second Lake at Big Pine Lakes (well actually, if you’ve never hiked it, you gotta do it at least once), and hike to this secluded lake instead. It’s a more strenuous hike but it’s worth it. The last half mile does require a good sense of direction and route finding as there is no maintained trail so explore at your own risk. Looking for a beautiful and easy hike? You’ve got to check out Point Lobos State Preserve in Carmel 😊 There are many excellent trails to hike at Point Lobos. The last time we went, we did the full loop, which is about 6 miles. 🌲 You’ll hike through beautiful forests. 🏖️ Find beautiful beaches. 🦦 And spot amazing wildlife! Weather it’s sunny or gloomy, you’ll have a great time. In fact, a foggy day can make the experience so much more intense and moody. In a good way! Layer up though! It can get cold! Especially when blanketed in fog. Have you hiked Point Lobos yet? Do you prefer it on a sunny or gloomy day? 🤔 🚗 Parking is $10 per vehicle, and can fill up fast! This area is a GREAT place for a summer getaway ☀️🍂 imagine how much MORE insane this view would be if I had cleaned my windshield before I took this video…. Scroll to the end for the location 🫶🏼 Based on my planned itinerary, this was just a quick stop and I really had another spot in mind that I wanted to spend more time at… But guess what!!! I ended up spending the whole afternoon here with my partner in crime, eating sandwiches 🥪 and drinking whatever drinks were left in our cooler 😂 We also saw a few men set up chairs and a makeshift alter for a wedding- A WEDDING! THE MOST EPIC MAGICAL CAMPSITE IN CALIFORNIA - BIG PINE LAKES ✨ 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐊 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐅𝐔𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐋 👣: Big Pine Lakes Trail 📍: Eastern Sierras, near Bishop, CA 🥾 : ~15.2miles to round all of the lakes. Shorter if you choose to just do a few lakes. ⬆️ : ~4,000ft elevation change 😅 : Hard 🏕 : Yes! You can camp the lakes, but our favorite campsite was at the second lake. 💧 : Yes 🎫 : Yes, you need to receive a permit to backpack into Big Pine Lakes in the Inyo National Wilderness. Permits can be found at http://recreation.gov , but permits for this hike usually get bought out first. You can do this on a day hike without permits. It’s up to us to take care of nature.
