Love, American Style was a who’s who of future stars. It helped a lot of teenagers unravel the mysteries of romance with the lighthearted humor typical of the 60s and 70s. Do you remember a favorite episode? The theme song was performed by The Cowsills during its first season. From the second season onward, the theme was re-recorded and performed by the Ron Hicklin Singers. In 1972, the rom com anthology series with the explosive fireworks and flag opening LOVE AMERICAN STYLE aired an episode called “Love in the Happy Days”. Starring Ron Howard (then Ronny, which was his child star stage name) it was about a 50s family the Cunninghams headed by Marion Ross and their lovelorn teen son and his friends, with Anson Williams playing “Potsie”. Shelley Duvall as Bonnie Lee in a March 1973 episode of Love, American Style - Season 4, Episode 77. 📺 Shelley’s storyline revolves around her character who shoplifted clothing but plays it off as an accident to the public defender, Dennis. He believes she is telling the truth and posts her bail until this final clip suggests otherwise. Since I cannot post it all-to set the scene: Martha and Henry take separate flights, a common practice at the time to ensure at least one parent’s survival in case of an emergency. After Martha boards her plane, Henry meets a young woman who can’t afford a flight to visit her brother overseas and suggests they pose as a married couple to get the family discount. However, bad weather grounds both their plane and Martha’s in Chicago, leading to a series of mix-ups reminiscent of classic episodes of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.
