Ever since I discovered magic loop, I haven’t picked up my DPNs or small circular needles 🫢 Magic loop has single-handedly replaced them! With just one long circular needle (I love a 40” needle) I can knit both small and large circumferences and everything in between. One needle can cover any sized knitting project! Magic loop is amazing because it: ✅ Saves money. (You just need one needle!) ✅ Is more comfortable to knit with ✅ Gets rid of the need for DPNs (for me this a plus. Here is how I join in the round for magic loop! The 3 tips are: 1- Place a marker after you have casted on half the stitches plus 1 (which will get subtracted later) The marker will help you be able to pull out the loop of the cable. 2- Straighten your stitches before trying to join them in the round. Then pinch the ends together to keep the orientation correct. 3- Slide the first stitch to the back before starting and then at the end of the round make the second to last stitch go over the last stitch and off the needle. #chiaogoo #chiaogooneedles #chiaogooforté #magicloop #joglessjoin #knittingtipsandtricks

I’m going to share the ✨MAGIC LOOP method✨ - this is when you knit one item, or even two items at the same time, on circular needles with a long cable. 🙌🏽Be patient - the first round can feel tricky. The cable may get in the way and the stitches can twist. But after that, the process becomes smoother and faster. ✨How to work: 1. Cast on the required number of stitches. Do not cast on an extra stitch. 2. Divide the stitches in half and pull out a loop of cable between the two halves. Make sure the stitches are not twisted. 3. Keep the working yarn on top and hold it over your left index finger. 4. Pull out the back needle tip and knit the first stitch. Snug it up, but not too tight. 5. Continue knitting to the end of the round. Keep checking that the stitches stay untwisted. Voila! You’ve learned the skill. I use this method for socks, gloves, sweater sleeves, or anytime I need to work in the round but don’t have short circular needles. • M a g i c L o o p • Here is a trick to avoid a distorted stitch column when working the magic loop technique. I simply pull out the cable a new place every time - and always a few stitches away from the needle tip to ensure I keep the tension on the last stitches worked. In the video I am knitting the Branch Sweater Light in two-coloured jacquard. But the technique can be used for any stitch pattern.
