Ever since I discovered magic loop, I haven’t picked up my DPNs or small circular needles 🫢 Magic loop has single-handedly replaced them! With just one long circular needle (I love a 40” needle) I can knit both small and large circumferences and everything in between. One needle can cover any sized knitting project! Magic loop is amazing because it: ✅ Saves money. (You just need one needle!) ✅ Is more comfortable to knit with ✅ Gets rid of the need for DPNs (for me this a plus. If you don't like DPNs or the Magic Loop, try this: 1. Get a second pair of needles (that are the same size). 2. Pull the right needle (of the original pair) to give slack to the stitches. 3. MAGIC LOOP 🪄 This is one of the more common ways to knit short circumference projects like socks! It's also useful for sweater sleeves if you only have a long circular needle, or fiddly bits of projects like fingers on gloves or mittens. This is my preferred way to make socks because it clicks in my brain, and a lot of sock patterns are written with magic loop directions. The most important thing to remember is that you need to have half of your stitches on each needle tip. I usually use 32" or 40" circular needles to work magic loop, because they give me the most cord length to work with. A couple tips: - keep your working yarn between the needles, do not wrap it over your needle when you change sides! you'll end up with extra stitches - attach a removable stitch marker to the side with the tail yarn (this is your beginning of row!) - you'll have a loop on each side of your project while you knit across your stitches - move your stitches down onto the cord when storing your project so they don't slip off You got this! #magicloop #sockknitting #knittingtutorial #clawsoutyarn #clawsoutsockkal

How to knit magic loop avoiding the laddering effect of loose stitches at the sides✨ Essentially, you will be moving the last knitted stitch over to the next needle every turn. Watch this if you’re struggling with Magic loop! Leaving just a few stitches on the back needle will help maintain your tension and avoid ladders wherever you split your stitches! You don’t need to leave as many as I’m showing, even 3-4 sts are enough. No!! I love them dearly 💕 and still use them for socks and mittens, where a tighter tension is exactly what I want 🧶🙌

🧡 SAVE FOR LATER 🧡 I’ve always loved using magic loop, it’s just so convenient! For so long (before I had an interchangeable set) I only had one cord length for each needle size and it honestly didn’t matter very much because of magic loop! I’ve never actually tried DPN’s, not because I have anything against them (I mean how could I know if I’ve never tried), but mostly because I’ve never felt it was necessary to buy another set when I’m very comfortable using magic loop, but if you do prefer using DPN’s, I’d love to hear why! Here is how I join in the round for magic loop! The 3 tips are: 1- Place a marker after you have casted on half the stitches plus 1 (which will get subtracted later) The marker will help you be able to pull out the loop of the cable. 2- Straighten your stitches before trying to join them in the round.
