Come Run 100km 🏃🏽‍♀️🥇 Race Debrief!!!! It was so hard to cram everything that happened in this race into one video and one race summary. I try to really show the ups and downs of the race, but for obvious reasons, some of the huge lows were not captured as I did not have the energy to get the phone out, and some of the highs I just wanted to take it all in. 🏆0-25km - was a quick start to the race, running roughly a 5:15km pace on the flats, but so many hills, I felt heavy and I realised this was not going to be super fun race 🏃🏽‍♀️25-30km - saw @lauradoessports and got a little boost and reminded myself why I am doing this race, FOR THE GIRLS, its crazy the lack of female representation there is at some ultra marathons 🫶30-50km - this was my favourite part of the race, felt in the swing of it and loved the challenge 🎽50-65km - was really struggling to get solids down, this was the slowest part of the race, every KM took years, but met a lovely man called @theonewynn and we became running partners 💕65-80km - on this flat bit of path and this was by far the most mentally challenging part of the whole run, the music was finally used as a boost and it massively helped, grateful that I waiting till now to use it, can’t believe I started my period though?!? 👟80-90km - very stop and start type running, lots of walking but the end was in sight 🥹90-100km - counting down the KMs and enjoyed it a little bit more as it was almost done 🥲100km - cried and cried and cried, so so so happy Big shout out to @lauradoessports for crewing me and meeting me along the way about 10 times to support and film 🎥 Thank you @theonewynn for running 50kms with me, you’re my hero 💕 Thank you @runna for supporting me for this race, @actionchallenge and @ultrachallenges for putting on a great race and @hoka_eu and @salomonrunning for great kit🎽 Still so much to say about this race, you won’t hear the end of this for a while… Dr B #running #ultramarathon #londonrunning #trailrunning #trailrunner

When the race ends, we mostly see the finish line celebration clips, splits, and podiums. We can lose sight of the years behind them. John Korir took his shot at the Frankfurt Marathon in 2019 and finished 12th. It wasn’t the result he needed to justify a career as a runner. He went back home to Kenya and to farming. But he kept training - through COVID, and when he got his second chance the results started to come - LA, Valencia, Chicago, and Boston…twice. It’s easy to celebrate the wins. It’s harder to appreciate the seasons where nothing seems to be working. But those are the moments that make everything that follows possible. First half marathon complete & I’m proud of this one. I don’t love running just yet but I do love what it’s teaching me. When your body starts to give up, your mind has to take over. Learning not to fold there… that changes you. Many solo runs, moments where I wanted to stop… and didn’t. It became therapy in a way I didn’t expect.
