From 5K to Half Marathon in 3 Months ✨ If you can run 5 km without stopping, you’re only 12 weeks away from crossing a half marathon finish line. 🏅 Here’s how to get there: 1️⃣ Consistency is king – run 3–4 times a week. Don’t worry about speed; just keep showing up. 2️⃣ Long runs matter – each week, add 1–2 km to your long run. By week 10, you’ll be close to 18 km. 3️⃣ Mix it up – add one easy run, one steady run, and one long run per week. If you can, sprinkle in short intervals for strength. 4️⃣ Recovery is training – sleep well, stretch, foam roll, and fuel your body with real food. 5️⃣ Mind over miles – some runs will feel tough, but remember: every step builds the next. 👉 Stick with it, and in just three months you’ll transform from a 5K runner into a half marathon finisher. You’re closer than you think. The start line is waiting. 🚀 Follow me for more Tips! alwaysonfire is my Lifestyle 🔥🔥 #run #runner #halfmarathon #5k #running

If this is your year, here are 10 things I wish someone had

If this is your year, here are 10 things I wish someone had told me before my first marathon ⬇️ 1️⃣ Training doesn’t have to be perfect, consistency beats the odd missed run. 2️⃣ The long runs really matter. They build confidence, resilience, and teach your body how to keep going. Your legs need those miles. My longest was 32km pre race day. 3️⃣ Your body will feel things you’ve never felt before, not every ache is an injury but every ache is one to listen to & a few rest days will be worth it to prevent it becoming an injury. 4️⃣ Don’t put pressure on yourself for a finish time. Your first marathon is about finishing, not proving anything. Enjoy it! 5️⃣ Fuel earlier than you think you need to, practice it in training. Also have a good understanding of fuelling stations along the route. Know your game plan! I trialled about 6 different gel brands before I found one I could stomach. 6️⃣ Taper week will mess with your head. Phantom pains are real and usually harmless. I had so many (went to physio twice that week) 🙈 7️⃣ You’ll be way more sore after than you expect, stairs will hurt and your appetite might feel all over the place. Totally normal. My appetite didn’t build again for a few days after. 8️⃣ Race day adrenaline is powerful, start slower than you want to. Trust me! Know the pace you are aiming for & save your splits as your wallpaper or write it on your arm (incase GPS is wrong - most are off slightly). 9️⃣ Walking breaks and plan changes are allowed. You still earn the medal. 🥇 🔟 Crossing the finish line will change how you see yourself for the rest of your life and that confidence lasts. If you’re running your first marathon this year, I’m so proud of you already 💛 I ran my first two marathons last year. This one was my very first in Chicago!! 3.53, afterwards I ran Amsterdam in 4.07 💫 Save this for the hard training days and trust the process 🏁 #running #marathon #advice

The few months BEFORE you start marathon training is really crucial 📌 I’m using the next 2 months to build my endurance and work on some weaknesses before summer. I’ll hover around 60 miles per week with a 120-135 min long run — not including my recovery weeks every 4-5 weeks where I drop my mileage by 15-20% (also crucial!). Filmed a little bit of last Friday’s long run … and yeah I got bored outside and ended up running the last 25 mins on the treadmill 😂 What does your pre-season weekly mileage look like? #marathongirl #runningtips #thelongrun #runnersofig #runfast

It’s amazing to see the different Marathon pacing!⚡️ Runners that do this for 26.2 miles are incredible. 2 hour marathon - 4:34 / mile 3 hour marathon - 6:52 / mile 4 hour marathon - 9:09 / mile 5 hour marathon - 11:27 / mile How long could you run at each pace?!

If you told me after my first marathon that I’d break 3 hours within 2 years…
I’d have told you that there’s no chance… not me. You’ve got the wrong guy. My first 26.2 = 4:41.
Two years later = 2:57. Here’s exactly what changed 👇 1️⃣ Figure out fueling during runs
First marathon: one Gatorade + a banana (rookie mistake).
Now: 8 gels + plenty of water — and I never hit the wall. 2️⃣ Cross-train with purpose
Hours on the bike built my aerobic engine without pounding my legs. 3️⃣ Run easy… for real
Easy days are for recovery, not for chasing Strava segments.
Train by heart rate, not ego. 4️⃣ Speed with intention
1–2 quality sessions per week — each with a clear purpose. 5️⃣ Nail daily nutrition
Simple, real foods. Repeatable meals. No guessing. 6️⃣ Sleep like it’s part of training
Skip sleep, and your training isn’t sustainable. Period. 7️⃣ Strength 2–3x/week
Stronger muscles = a stronger stride and fewer injuries. You don’t go from 4:41 → 2:57 overnight.
You stack small, smart habits until they become your new normal.

Not all miles are created equal. An 8-mile trail run with big vert can crush you, while a flat 8 miles might miss the stimulus completely. That’s why smart trail runners don’t chase miles — they train by time. Time on your feet builds the endurance that actually transfers to race day. Comment SMART and I’ll share more science-based ultra training tips.
