[DM] me “masterclass” for the link to my masterclass this Sunday on the bow strokes 🎻 I used to try to use one of these bow holds or the other but it never quite felt right As I later found out this was because neither bow hold can be ideal for the entire bow While there are some different interpretations of these bow holds generally speaking the Russian allows for more pronation and better control in the upper half of the bow while the Franco-Belgian is more supinated and has better control in the lower half of the bow But if you learn to hold the bow with your “natural” hold and learn to change the balance of the hand (pronate/supinate as needed) you can have the same comfort at all parts of the bow - 🎻Wieniawski Scherzo Tarantella, Heifetz 🎻Paganini Cantabile - #violin #viola #cello #dounistips #dounisbowhold #dounisbow #dounis
