🌿Size Matters🌿 . I know you all will ask: these are eggs from our moss Eggers :) comment “moss” to learn all about them and “shop” to see our full lineup of 2026 breed offerings. 🎉 In a world that values speed, corner cutting and high production at all costs we run our farm and business in a completely different way. For us, it is all about putting the health of the birds and the experience of the people who support us first. Would the smaller egg hatch? Absolutely! Would it be the best choice for that chick who will come out struggling? No. So we do not set them. ❤️ 🌿 Each hen is unique, sometimes it is a few weeks or a month until they lay the full sized egg for their breed. Until the their eggs reach the proper size we set them aside for eating. Not every hatchery does and it makes a huge difference. Do we loose out on sales? Yes. But the health of our birds comes first and stewardship starts even before incubation ❤️ 🌿 Everytime a customer has received a box of chicks from us they say they are the most lively, robust, calm and sweet natured chicks they have raised. From breeding for even keel temperament, to pasturing all of our flocks, to proper egg selection to humane hatching - every heart centered choice we make adds up to some amazing chicks. Introducing our newest little flock! Adding these five makes twelve total for our farm. This was our first experience ordering live chicks from a hatchery, and we were so impressed with @meyer_hatchery packaging! We are already obsessed with these girls and we’re excited to watch them grow!

Broiler chicken pickup day 🐓 Cornish Cross chicks from Windy Meadows Hatchery We will raise these chicks for 9 weeks, then we will process them ourselves to fill the freezer. It’s so rewarding raising our own meat and knowing exactly what we are putting into our bodies. *also I know it looks harsh they way I tossed the chicks out of the box, but this is the recommended & best way to remove them!
